Someone should buy it. It's quite a bit lower than the price on ebay. People seem to think highly of this DAC. It's been favorably compared to the Schiit Gungnir which is much more expensive ($849).

kottavI agree, but would like to see a combination of the X12 (without the USB Card) and the U12 as the drop. Gustard admits the performance is better from that pairing that from the X12 with the USB board add on with little in additional cost. I might have gone in on that one. Better yet, do a X20 drop.

BaddogThat would be an interesting combination, but I would love to see a reviewer compare the two USB configurations and say whether or not there was an audible difference. According to the book written by one of the founders of Schitt Audio, there are very few USB sources bad enough to require major re-timing, and the Xmos USB interface in the X12 self-identifies as "X20", so Gustard's upscale DAC appears to have the same hardware/firmware.

SocrateaseThe impact of noise and timing issues on the musical quality of the USB signal is the foundation of religious wars. I agree, would love to know if the U12 actually creates any material value versus just getting the USB interface on the X12.
