Ah, a nice Bauhaus inspired Hamilton. Too bad that real Bauhaus classics (Junkers) are around the same price and better looking..

You meant the Max Bill line by JUNGHANS right, rather than Junkers?
Anyway, at the right price, I think a watch fan would like to have one of each. Looks like consensus in the discussion is that $549 isn't really the right price for this drop to be very attractive though. Plus that really short warranty is a turn off.

TayTay604Correct, price and warranty look to be the biggest deal-breakers here.

TayTay604Max Bill is the grand daddy, but believe it or not there are a slew of original German bauhaus watches, just as there are a bunch of original Flieger watchmakers out there. And I mentioned Junkers because they have a real Bauhaus watch for almost exactly the same price (automatic and all)..

What? Since when were Junkers considered classics?

KstiLet me rephrase that: classic look ;-) Although the Junkers brand has a history dating back to 1895, they are not and have not been watchmakers. Junkers as a watch brand came on the market around 1987 via a German company called Point Tec. So no, definitely not classics in the sense of "old" but definitely in a more spot on Bauhaus model... Off course, Hamilton's history goes back further than Junkers.

As someone else said, the Junghans watches are the real Bauhaus classics due to the designs being done in collaboration with the great Max Bill. I lust after the Chronoscope with the gray dial. Some day.

I always thought they just had the same name. Or that the watch brand just took the old engine maker's name as "inspiration". Never knew they're actually related. Thanks for the info

KstiYou're welcome. Horology is very interesting on certain models/brands. For instance, when you go back in history you'll find out that there are a lot of original "Flieger Uhr" brands (aka "pilot watches") that actually still exist today..

NikoToscaniWas just looking at some of the Stowa watches - didn't realize their Bauhaus designs went back to the 1930s as well - every bit as authentic Bauhaus as Junghans.

NikoToscaniCorrect! Off course Max Bill was the "mac daddy" of those watches, but still there were many others as well. Once you dive into the history of the brands from back then a world opens ;-)

KstiThey're not actually related. That's misinformation. The current brand run by Point Tec has zero to do with anything associated with Hugo Junkers aside from the name.
In addition, the Hamilton is a design that dates back to the 1950s, I believe - from Hamilton. If they're making an "homage" of anything, it's their own watch.
