I have had the black version of this watch for over a year now. I find myself wearing it more and more every day. Incredible movement, love the extended reserve and I think that trumps the slower freq. It is extremely light, as in titanium light and the strap contributes to that. Not a scratch on it yet and I do not baby field watches, which is what this is. As a field watch, I love the compressor style bezel as I can set it and not worry about it moving. It is not a dive watch, but a field watch, probably the best field watch I have ever had over the course of 35 years of military service. The desert tan and blue versions are prettier, but the black is just pure function. This would be my go to war watch, reliable, accurate, durable and very light and in the field light is king. If I were to improve anything on this watch, it would be the illume, its OK, but it could be better.
I came dangerously close to buying a black one, but I've got other priorities and already have a solid work watch in a similar size and style. Some day, but for now all is well in my watch world.
I like wearing a lightweight watch sometimes, and one that's light but not insubstantial would be sweet in the rotation. This one looks good in aluminum; more so in stainless, but I don't know if I'd opt for the standard heft.. who am I kidding, both versions are officially on my wishlist.
I like this watch!
It's more substantial (and better looking too) than MD's photos would lead you to believe. Unfortunately not a buy for me at this point, but definitely a wear if by chance Santa inadvertently drops one down my chimney!
If you're considering one, check out this walk-around video for a better in-the-hand overview:
I love how Ashford raises their prices WAY up on their website and Drops a model at 20% higher than their normal everyday price on the same day!

Glen8It’s by design.
Back when I cared, i’d Be able to find which grey market dealer was attempting to offload their unloved stock. It’s the usual suspects - purchase direct, shopworn, gemnation, ash ford, and even some direct dealers like Gnomon (we had one of their Ball offerings not too long ago)
Good news is that if the watch doesn’t sell, they grey market retailer typically puts it back on offer but at the Drop price.
Given Drops shipping times, you may be better off waiting for the drop to end, the watches to go back on sale at the grey market retailer, and you’ll probably get it faster and cheaper.
BeastMDThey are recycling prior emails and drop postings to save the planet--you big Luddite!
The least you can do is purchase an old watch they don't sell anymore to help them out!
