Black dial face and brown leather band, field watch, that's what I want from Hamilton. The brown/tan and metal bracelet don't do it for me.
Honestly if this had the more classic black face I’d jump in it in an instant. I also really like the Hamilton brand leather deplorable strap, very sleek. Edit: Deployable, autocorrect isn’t nice to me

Adding "deplorable strap" to my list of must-haves for my next watch.

Black face, deplorable, ... tssk tssk
Cool watch. I can't get over the date window placement and impact on index alignment, but wish I were less OCDd as I really like the rest!
Is the crown shorter on one of these models than the other?
vlvtshrk
I can't speak to the crowns being different but can tell you one model is 40 mm case and the other is a 42 mm case, the #63 is the bigger one.
Cheaper than Jomashop right now.
How much was ?
Not a big fan of the new 80hr power reserve movements fitted in Hamilton, Tissot and some other Swatch brands. The 2824 from which this movement derived was easily regulated by any watchmaker, indeed any competent amateur. The regulation is now factory set and if it's out you're in trouble. My watchmaker says he can do it but not easily and he said it's no job for an amateur. The 80hr power reserve is a great idea and the slower beat rate (you'll find it's 21600 and not 28800 as in the description) is great for prolonging service intervals but why couldn't the movement have kept the same regulation system as it's predecessor. I got my Khaki Field prior to the movement change but if I wanted a new Hammy I'd go manual wind which retains the 2801 high beat and still easily regulated movement.
tony.hill
Why not keep the same regulation system? My guess would be to make construction easier and cheaper. Everything that claims to be an "improvement" is really just a little bit worse.
sparis145149
It seems that way. So I've heard the 3hz 80 power reserve movements come out of the factory well regulated. The problem is if it doesn't or the regulation goes out because of a shock. It's now a difficult fix or you send it back to Hamilton and wait who knows how long for repair. As you say "improvement" is debatable.
Anyone have a picture of the luminous hands in the dark?
Hamilton makes a lot of nice looking watches, this isn’t one of them.
Not a fan of the low contrast dial, the bracelet, the case... This has none of the sex appeal of their (IMO) much nicer GG-W-113 homage.
Would bite if it was normal size.

Actually, I think the option in this drop is 42 mm.
WARG
Specs say 40mm case diameter.
Edit: just looked up the +$25 option by part number and it appears to be a 42mm, so you are correct.
449 Joma , 2 year warranty, who are we kidding here?

Massdrop just dropped on their heads.
this is a good price on a great watch , info was easy enough to cross reference on the hamilton usa website by pasting the model number into their search box,
If there was a way to publish this drop in a shittier fashion I'm hard pressed to think of how that might have been done. The nonchalance with which all responsibility for posting accurate information has been ignored is downright impressive. It would have made less sense only if the whole description was replaced with an encyclopedia entry for "aardvark"
No warranty! No purchase!
KlydeTheElder
you can buy it here with the warranty, or go for the discount, which the warranty, which is a risk management line item policy, has a value, so foregoing it allows to purchase the good new at discount with self insuring, but yes you can get here with manufacturer warranty if you reside the market it is available and to which it applies https://shop.hamiltonwatch.com/khaki-field-auto-40mm-h70595593.html
Am I the only one who can't stand the awkward date window and off the grid 3?
wuyeah
No, you are not!
I must say, massdrop is really shitting the bed here. There primary concern should be providing the buyer with accurate information... it's not to difficult to do so. Makes me wonder if this is done on purpose, to dupe the buyer.
Tempting, but I already have the H70555533 (42mm) field khaki. But I think maybe this model looks better...
Is this covered by Hamilton's own warranty, or Massdrop?

Good question. I would of course hope there is a warranty of some kind, but I remember reading on another thread that if no information of warranty is provided, then there is no warranty.
rampantandroid
Not at all. With massdrops appalling customer service, consider no returns either......just saying.
Not even a great deal, $14 cheaper than Jomashop

So not cheaper then.
Virgule
But with jomas 2 ur warranty......not cheaper but better!
Hmmm the bracelet version is not marked “Swiss Made” on the dial... 🤔
Cogsworth
Seems to vary on different pictures.

Here it's missing from the dial, but stamped on the back.
Anyone know the lug-to-lug on the 40 mm version? Also, does the crown screw down on either version?
I have owned this exact watch (leather band version) for about 4 years. I love just about everything about it. The only thing I regret is not getting the titanium black-cased version which is more than twice as expensive, but that is purely subjective. If you like the looks of this it is an outstanding entry-level Swiss movement automatic watch. I usually wear it with a brown NATO strap which complements it quite well, but the included strap is very nice as well.
Hewbacca
PVD titanium is twice as expensive??
ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Swatch Group.
Wrong movement for model number?
Why is the metal band version cheaper? Seems unusual.
Miaow
It’s a different model (different case diameter too).
overpriced for no warranty!
28800 vph 80 hours doesn't make sense
frequency should be 21600 vph

So what's for sale here exactly ???
Might be the Powermatic.
remember, Hamilton is a Swatch Group brand, and I would very much bet that this is a Swatch/ETA Powermatic 80 variant. That would account for the 28800 beat rate and the 80 hour reserve. And it seems Swatch has been rolling out Powermatic 80s outside Tissot.
might be wrong. Just a thought!
