Pardon my ignorance, hoping someone can help a newb here. I am in the market for a good keyboard and wanted to harken back to the old mechanical keyboards I used in the 90’s, so I started perusing. I really like the look of these keys but what is the actual board/base in the picture? Any other recommendations for a nice vintage/retro look? Thanks.

R3tr0The board on the pics are just computer-rendered TKLs. Depends on whether you'd like to try actual vintage keyboards or not, as to your question on what board recommendations. Custom keyboard kits may vary significantly in price, but I would say they are mostly above $225 for aluminum custom kits.

R3tr0For retro look I recommend Leopold series, in white. That one is the best OEM keyboard IMO.

JebbraI have to say Leopold has the best BSP WK Keycaps in the world but so sad his boss don't wanna sell the blank.
Edit: I mean PBT, sorry.

Hamm3rBut I agree, Leopold keycaps are nice. Heck, almost everything about it is very nice right after you unbox it.

R3tr0If you want the best retro mech, https://www.modelfkeyboards.com/ Keep in mind, this project took 3 years to get to this stage, we are finally getting to the finish line - but, you will still have to wait till around July for your keyboard. There will be another batch towards the end of the year, then that's it.
