(not my picture, I don't actually use those for my headphones)
And we get our money's worth in labour since these are hand crafted - and even if we didn't, people buy stupid shit all the time. Makes them happy, if that's worth it to them what's there to question? Your query applies to literally anything (headphones, keyboards, cufflinks, watches, clothes, cars, etc), seems moot to bring it up every time a niche hobby item is up for grabs.

VigrithI dont see it anywhere saying it was hand crafted but yeah hand crafted by pouring it into mold lol, it probs costs 0.02c to make :P I do like that banana rack but. still can't see paying $25 for a 10mm square silicon plastic button, guess i'm in the wrong industry lol.

ducmanLabor hours do not cost $0 unfortunately, regardless of how mundane a task you may think is involved.

Cyphrewell that's agreeable but they will make the labor income on the very 1st or 3rd sale and then they will make a roughly 1250% profit per button sold. Good on them i guess as they're competing with pharmaceutical prices haha. But yeah, still crazy priced lol

ducmanNot really sure how you're coming to those conclusions. This isn't some guy making minimum wage pouring resin into existing molds. If this was an industry predicated on "It only takes $0.02 to make" then it wouldn't exist at all.

CyphreMate, you're of your rocket lol. Of course there is an industry because who doesn't want to make a profit of roughly 1250% with minimum loss margins? And of course there will be someone at minimum wage making them or the owner himself, I bet the buy they mass buy a plain keycap and just make a few tiny molds like an ice tube tray and stick the resin in on it. There are so many different basic processes to make these lol. I stand strong by my comment. You can buy a bloody complete decent keyboard for $60!

ducmanThe artist is making these himself. He's making the design and pouring the resin. This one is pretty simple but some of his other work is more complex. Either way, with the amount of time and skill it takes to create a GOOD artisan keycap I don't think he's making as much profit as you think.
