Hey guys, I wanted to respond to the question "Why are these here?" I can't answer that and I have the same question myself. I never heard of Massdrop before and although it seems like a great place to get in on some great group buy deals, it is certainly not my target demographic. For the record, I did not authorized these shot glasses to be sold on here and I had nothing to do with the MSRP. Also, I wanted to respond to some of the rude, hurtful messages that appear to be targeted at me. I don't see what I have done to deserve it.
Dynamiklol 291 It's not even diamond incrusted. Why is this peasant shot glass on here?
Me: Nothing rude about this. I actually think it's quite funny.
iLeicaMike 131 For when you really need a big ass dab.
Me: Sorry, I'm an old fart and don't know what that means
semka 62 I would estimate manufacturing cost of this at about $60.
Me: You come across as being quite educated in this field. Unfortunately, you're not even close. My material cost is more than that.
MartletMedia 2 I like it, but would never pay more then $100
Me: I really like this. You're expressing your view without being rude or forcing it upon others.
Revo 6 I think someone added an extra '0' to that price tag.
Me: There are no "0's" in the price tag. ;)
dibbzeh 1 My wallet, it burns with needy desire. I must douse it with this finely crafted petite stein to quench its thirst.
Me: I love this! You should work for greeting card company.
DeathWatch 27 Why would this drop be on Massdrop?I see no point in this.
Me: Agreed.
Yes i do know Ti is hard to cut but not $224.99 hard.
Me: Strange... I have been working with titanium for many, many years and find it very easy to cut with the right tools and methods. Let me know what operations you're having problems with. Perhaps I can help.
I need to state that i didn't know this Jeff Hanko guy, but i did a search online and found his work with flashlight, they do look amazing
Me: Thank you. I work very hard at it.
A lot of guys make things like this and they don't cost a faction of this.
Me: I wasn't aware of any others. If you know a lot of guys making stuff like this, surely you could direct me to one of them. I'm always interested in what my competition is doing. Please don't point to these: http://taftware.com/collections/all/products/signature-titanium-shot-glass , as they are nothing like mine and are smaller (mine are 2oz, those are 1oz.)
tornato7 5 I'd buy this for $20 maybe but holy shit
Me: Sorry to burst your bubble, but $20 will only get you this:
search

, and shipping will be extra.

Video of Hanko's other shot glass design, it does look awesome, gotta give him that...
Me: Thank you for this comment. DeathWatch 27 replying to DuaneWeikum
i don't think people here hate expensive product, they just dislike product that are both expensive and don't serve a purpose. Don't get me wrong i am not saying this product isn't amazing but most people will agree with me that it is not $224.99 amazing, and there is nothing much you can do with it.
Me: What "purpose" does a 2 million dollar Rembrandt hanging over a fireplace serve? Only the joy it gives the owner when looking at it's beauty. It may not be for you or me, but it is for someone. But please do not think or suggest Massdrop is made up of people who are too poor to understand art.
Me: I couldn't agree more.

Well on the other hand, the drunk and uninhibited are an excellent demographic for Hanko to get to spend this kind of money ;)
Me: This is just rude and implies that I am pulling some kind of scam. You have no basis for this. I work very hard to make an honest living. DeathWatch 27 replying to Teufel
Correct me if i am wrong,i did a search online and find the price for 1 kilogram of 6al-4v Titanium is around 30 to 50 ,and this shot glass only Weight: 4.4 oz (124.7 g).
http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/titanium-ti-6al-4v.html This is the page i used to calculate the price. http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Supply-ASTM-B348-titanium-ti-6al_1887470003.html This is rod titanium i think,at least that is what it claims to be. Me: Come on.. you're spending way much time on Google attempting to defame me and rally the support of your peers. I would love to hear how you can machine a 125g shot glass out of 125g's of bar stock. This is your reasoning behind these comments, isn't it? Please explain it to us all. Let's make it easy and triple it. Explain how it could be done with 375g's of bar stock. I'll help you get started. A 2" diameter x 2.25" long piece of grade 5 titanium weighs 453 grams. You're on you own with the rest and Google isn't going to help you here. Alibaba??? Is this where you buy your bar stock from? I don't buy crap alloy bars from China, hence the term "Proudly made in the USA" I buy american made bars from reputable suppliers that can supply certs if the customer requests them. I also buy Kennametal tooling (also made in the USA). It may not be important to some, but it is to me. If I buy large enough quantities (which I rarely can afford), 2" bar stock costs me $340-350/ft. Do the math. So can i say it would only cost him around 10 dollar of material(including wasted material)?
Me: You can say whatever you like. It is a free country. It doesn't mean you are correct, and in this case you certainly are not.

If I drink my Bud Light in this, will it turn into a Macallan 64?
Me: I'm sorry, it will not... Me: Sorry for making this so long, but I wanted to address everything. If I offended anyone in the process, it was not intentional and I'm sorry.
Thanks for you time,
Jeff Hanko
