How do they compare to Salomon Quest 4D 2 GTX?

WildWeaselHave not used the Salomon myself but I do own these ones (the wide version) and they are the best boots I've used. Well worth the money and can withstand everything. Really good fit too imo.

WildWeaselI havent worn the Salomons myself. I have had a pair of Hanwag Alaska Winter GTX(similar boot to the Tatra in terms of use) But one of my close friends who is a lifetime Hanwag Alaska wearer in law enforcement K9 work said the Salomons he got really lacked ankle support and sole support. If you are just wearing them around on light hikes etc. the Salomons are probably fine...but if you do more hardcore hiking on rough terrain and rocky hills etc I would invest in these or the Alaska/Special Forces models. The Tatra are the lowest, lighter and slightly less stiff sole out of the three models.

Rogersd902Quest 4D is a pretty supportive boot and I say that as someone with weak ankles and flat feet. However, I'd stay away from their trail runners.

WildWeaselThe Quest shoes are a lot lighter, with a lot more synthetic and woven material in between, so they're lighter, more flexible (less support) and slightly less durable. I got the Quest 4d roughly a year ago, and while they've been immensely comfortable the whole time I've been a bit disappointed with their durability. I'd still say both shoes are good in their right, depending on what kind of hiking you do.
The sole of the quests are softer, so I found I didn't like them in snow or very rough terrain, but in almost every other situation I really prefer them because of how light they are, which is a huge difference in the long run.
