If you are looking at a guided sharpening system this is the version to get with the best price to performance ratio. 10 times better than kme or edge pro, far less expensive than the wicked edge with more add on options available.
Highly recommended
Major_InfidelIt's like an edge pro on roids. Better materials it's more stable. Uses a better table system that holds knives better has. Better arm system and can use kme, edge pro and hapstone stones.
Im sure there's more too.
Major_InfidelAll metal, totally solid, edge pro apex is significantly plastic. Magnetic table with clamp for larger knives, edge pro you've gotta hold them. doesn't move around on the table just from weight. Able to use virtually any stone too, from 1/2x4 stones like from a lansky if you take them outta their holders, to an 8x2 inch stone, perhaps even wider than 2 inches.
AngryAccountantThanks for the replies, gents. I’ve been using the same Edge Pro Apex for over 15 years. The results have been consistently fantastic and it’s never let me down. But I’m always open to suggestions if someone comes along and builds a better mousetrap.
AngryAccountantI agree. Hapstone also have a pro version with a clamp which costs even more but if you don't like holding the knife with a magnet that could be a good upgrade path if you were looking for a clamp system. Otherwise no need to really upgrade if you got something that works for you. I went from kme to edge pro and I'll probably sell both and get a hapstone professional.
AngryAccountantI was told it was going to be quite a bit more expensive than the V7 though...it does look to have some great new features, I believe they also have a budget version in the works.
