Looks like another clock on the wrist, I think I'll pass. Love the style, just way too big for me.

TexMonFliegers are supposed to be big. They were pretty much the original pilot watches, easy to read back in the day when cockpits were cold and dark. The large crown was also easier to grasp with gloves when coordinating time. "On my mark..."

JuanEmilioWell, the original batch of 1200 (in 1941) were 55mm. LOL.

JuanEmilioJust have to chime in here and say that with an 8 1/4" wrist, that 47mm is not going to be excessive at all. So, I'm quite happy for the availability of a watch that doesn't look puny on my wrist, that still looks dressy.

aikilinkNo watch that big is ever going to look dressy.

JuanEmilioI don't know how big of a wrist you have, but I think it's a fair guess that a 46mm or so in me will look about the same as a 42mm or less on you. My 42mm watch is wearable, but I need something bigger. You are just speaking of your own opinion and of 'common belief'. Don't you think 1% with extra large wrists can wear extra large watches?

JuanEmilioI do wonder about the thickness of this watch though... it might not fit under a cuff/sleeve very well, as it does seem substantial.
I hope I didn't seem rude in the last comment. It's just really hard to find any watch that looks nice and doesn't look too small. -_- I see the gorgeous Nomos posted on Reddit (of course, they're far too expensive for me to splurge on for a few decades XD), and am sad that they only go up to 38mm or so. :(
There are a good few nice 41mm range watches, but if I'm paying a lot of money for one, I'd really like it to feel substantial to me.
All the best! :)

aikilinkI see your point, and you didn't sound rude at all hahaha. I hope you find a watch that truly fits you.

JuanEmilioThanks! Yeah, I definitely agree with you. I'm not looking for something that hangs off the edges of my wrist - not even something that's near as big as my wrist. Just something that is about 3/4 the width of the top...
What watches do you like? :)
There are a lot of watches that I think are a bit gaudy and over-complicated. I really just like the simple 3-hands, and while the date is nice, on fancy watches, I think it looks nicer without.

aikilinkUm, these are supposed to be pilot watch homages. .pilot watches (I mean REAL pilots watches) were meant to fit over the cuff of a flight jacket. I don't think the question of fitting under my fine dress suit ever came up. lol. ;-)

riffrafffRight, that was something that I realized, but with most 42mm watch bands needing to be worn at the last hole or two (yes, I'll be looking for new bands :), I figured this might work well. Also, it's honestly classier (in my very subjective opinion) than most other watches I can find around this size.
I would love to hear any recommendations you might have! :)
P.S. Linux user, or just general Penguin fan? :D

riffrafffVery nice! I have Windows around for a few select games, and photo editing, but that's it. Everything else I do on Linux. :)
