Interesting idea, but the blade looks pretty flimsy for processing animals. Blade hq says .03 inches... That's really really thin. Like half as thick as a Paring knife thin. Not sure I'd want to try to quarter a deer with that.
Anyone have any experience using this on game? I'm also interested in how easy cleanup is. Depending on how the replaceable blades connect, it could get pretty funky in there.
NotsurewhyibotherSo realistically, I can’t say i’d ever use it as the only knife while quartering a deer, unless it was the only knife I had. However, it’s a fairly effective for gutting, cutting off back strap, removing the shoulders (no bone in the joint), cutting off grind (anything that isn’t part of another major cut, for us). Where this really shines is skinning out game, particularly if you’re trying to have the hide tanned for taxidermy or you‘re working with harder to skin animals. It’ll even do a passable job at separating joints with bone, because the blade is sharp, well shaped, and flexible. You just have to get the point into the space between the bones and cut any connective tissue holding the joint together.
Probably the best part about it is that it is effectively using scalpel blades. Go a little too gung-ho on and fold/roll/chip the edge? Just pull the blade off and put another on. If I had to pick one $25 knife to have on me with the expectation that i’d use it to do everything on a deer, this would win, hands down. I’d prefer to have two or 3 different knives, in which case this would still win top spot for skinning.

Notsurewhyibotherajn142 made some good points. I just wanted to add that I am interested in this blade because of Steve Rinella's recommendation. Not sure if he still uses one, but he highly recommended it a few years ago and I saw him skin lots of animals on his show Meateater. He may have been sponsored by Havalon, but it looked like it got the job done very well.

NotsurewhyibotherZoom in on the knife, the disposable blade is attached to the handle. They work great for skinning out deer. I have one. The weight is also a factor. Very light and no need for sharpening supplies. 👍

NotsurewhyibotherThe blade attaches to the handle for support. The blades come off and on with the leatherman tool I carry. The knife and spare blades weigh 1/3 the fixed blade I was using. No need to carry sharpening supplies. Change the blade as often as you like. A perfect solution for skinning out deer. 3 - 4 animals on a blade. 👍 buy with confidence 😎
