This might be a silly question, but I'm an avid sewer and would like to take on the Gravity quilt. I've never quilted before, but understand how to paper piece and am confident that I'll get the hang of it. Am I being foolish in this thinking? Is the Gravity quilt best left up to more experienced quilters?

SprySproutIt is labeled as beginner to intermediate level. There are many bias cuts which will add to the level of difficulty. You can always give it a try. If it seems too difficult, maybe try quilting a simple quilt from start to finish first just so you understand the process.

SprySproutHi @SprySprout,
I'm excited that you're venturing into the world of quilting! This Gravity pattern is complex because of all the different shapes, but the pattern has very clear instructions on how to cut and piece everything. There is no paper piecing involved and no complicated Y-seams. Libby is right that there are many bias cuts that may be difficult, but if you cut your pieces precisely and use a little spray starch, the bias cuts won't be too troublesome.
The creator of the Gravity pattern, Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts, is actually hosting a quiltalong for this quilt on her blog. The quilt along started in January, and she talks about how to make each block each month. Here's her most recent blog post with links to her past blog posts for the Gravity Quilt Along: http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/2015/06/gravity-quilt-block-colors-block-6.html
So you're in good company when you sew this quilt. You can follow #gravityquilt on social media and ask fellow quilters for pointers.
If other people who joined this drop are interested, we can do a #massdropgravityquilt along on Instagram once everyone has received their packages!
Thanks and hope this helps!

SprySproutThat's awesome, @SprySprout! I'm happy that you're giving it a try! Let's definitely do a #massdropgravityquilt along once everyone receives their Hex N More Ruler bundles! I've been wanting to make this quilt too, and this is just the inspiration I need! The first step is to choose the fabrics that you want to use in your Gravity quilt! The designer used only solids in many colors for her Gravity quilt, and it looks just as good in prints and batiks too. I can't wait to quilt along with you all!
