ducmanThen I recommend the Sony NW-A35 Walkman. I have one and Absolutely love it! Sounds awesome and has a Battery life of 30-45 HOURS, depending on the settings and file types and sizes!

ducmanI don't think you can download apps into it but you can definitely put audiobooks as long as the file type is supported, ie. mp3, m4a. It also supports hi-res. I just got a different version of this today, the NW-A45! I got it for 198 in Amazon.
The sound is more balanced than iphone but it can be VERY sibilant on a FEW tracks.
I liked the sound best having all the filters turned off.
Great battery life, but sound is just good. Transferring music was fast and easy. I believe it is well priced at 200.
I am returning it because I like my desktop setup a lot better.

I'm ONLY listening to my own 24bit FLAC LIVE Recordings that I make myself with Schoeps mics and Sound Devices Mixpre6 and Mixpre3 recorders, and mostly of jambands and electronic styles of music that I've taped over the last 20+ years!
It definitely sounds true to my recordings though, but I haven't really listened to any regular albums with it yet since that's not my preferred way of listening to music, and regular albums are compressed to hell and back and usually don't have very much Dynamics to them. I'm ONLY listening to my live Recordings, but I'd love to know which tracks you thought had some sibilance to them?

FOBeanUnfortunately I did not give the sony nw-a45 sufficient time and decided to return it the same day. I'm a bit impatient. I just decided that I won't really be using it enough to justify the cost and the hassle of carrying another handheld device. But VERY COOL SONGS! sorry I wasn't able to test your songs on the nw-a45.

Well I completely feel you there bro! If your phone suits your needs as is, then no reason to carry around another device!
I just got the Walkman around Christmas because I have been Recording HQ 24bit stuff since 2006, and was just streaming mp3's through Google Play on my Pixel phone, and wasn't taking advantage of my hi resolution Recordings.
But I absolutely LOVE the Sony NW-A35 Walkman>Westone UM Pro 30 IEM's. The sound is unreal and scares me how good it sounds! Takes me RIGHT back to the show/concert and has awesome details, clarity and resolution across the whole frequency spectrum!
And I just upgraded MMCX Cables to a brand new Linum Bax MMCX Cable Straight from the UK/Denmark, and now my setup sounds even better, which I really didn't think was possible LoL 😁
