So, it looks like the DAC is the same as the one in the AP200, so it looks like it probably is an improvement over the AP60 II.

TheLongshotYes, AP60 Pro DAC is the same as AP200's. The SNR of AP60 Pro can be up to 118dB which is better than many professional DAPs. You can enjoy the pure music sound.

HidizsHi Hidizs, At the top we have a quote "ESS9118C DAC chip and a maximum sampling rate of 44.1–384 kHz / 32 bit"... whereas lower down it lists "Sampling rate: 44.1–192 kHz / 24 bit". Any clarification? Thanks 8o)

zlaggyHi, 1. For AP60 Pro, we put it in a position that which is tiny, portable and with high sound quality music player with an affordable price . It's a comprehensive consideration for a product, all of AP60 Pro's design are in order to make AP60 Pro output a better sound. 2. Althrough it's tiny body, we also try to make some of its audio parameters can be compared favourably with some DAPs or better than some. You can compare the Frequency response , THD+N , SNR , Dynamic range , Channel separation to the DAPs you are familiar in the market. Take SNR for example, ESS9118C DAC support SNR up to 126dB, AP60 Pro SNR can reach to an amazing 118dB. Not reach the maximum, but it is better than most of the DAPs in the market. 3. For every of our product, we must weight the advantage and disadvantage. If we pursue some of the audio parameters are closed to the ESS9118C DAC, we must make some choice to other audio parameters. Or if we pursue all of the audio parameters are closed to the ESS9118C DAC, it will make AP60 Pro to be a more huge, expensive one. Which it's away from our goals.

HidizsI am asking a clear question. 192khz maximum recognised files or 384khz maximum? I am not questioning quality at this price but some of us need ti support 384khz files. So, please, does it support up to 192khz or 384khz? Thank you...?

zlaggyThe dac chip by itself goes up to 384kHz but the usb interface used only supports up to 192kHz is what I'm understanding. So it should only support up to 192kHz.

UnpopularThanks. I may still buy at least one but a friend has ripped most of his music to 384khz so I needed to be sure. Will get something else for his birthday.

zlaggyYou say a friend has ripped. If he's ripping at a rate higher the source he's using all he is doing is using up storage space. A CD for example only needs 44.1k and ripping to 128k for example will produce files that sound the same but take up 3x more space. I didn't think there was much available exceeding 128k even out there.

bsoplingerThanks and your point is acknowledged. To be clear, I should have said he not only ripped a lot to 384khz (but now to flac) from vinyl & cd, but pays for & downloads from HD online services that provide 384khz files. There are HD services offering up to 384khz files. Also, ripping to 384khz was originally a "strategy", even if an uninformed one, to keep a consistent format for devices/players that did not auto-detect and adjust to differing formats. Now that we both rip to flac no matter what we're ripping and newer devices can adjust, it is less of a problem. We are still stuck with wanting a device that can handle 384khz files or re-ripping thousands of songs to 192khz. This is the real reason I asked but since I'm probably getting one anyway, maybe i"ll stick to buying one. If he likes it, it's his and I can wait for another drop. Cheers 8o)
