Anyone know if this device does okay with podcasts and audio books? Curious if it holds the spot where you last leave off.

AggroCragI would like to know this as well. Not just when you shut the device down, but if you jump to another podcast episode and jump back again does it pick up where you left off or does it start you at the beginning of the file.
Also, how does the fast forward feature operate? If I have a 3 hour podcast and I want to ff 90 mins, it doesn't do me any good if the device can only ff 1 minute per second. The Sansa devices ramp up the FF speed the longer you hold it down, which is effective.

FarnhamI've been looking at Amazon reviews and nothing about podcasts or audiobooks so far. I'll keep researching.

Farnham Hi.... I'm also keen to know this. I have been searching for a modern DAP that can do this. It seems so simple since my iPod Classic from more than a decade ago could remember the position of each audiobook and resume them where i left off. I end up having to use the "Smart AudioBook Player" app on my android phone. I use a type c "mini " DAC so i do get somewhat decent sound quality, but I would still prefer a good DAP.

AggroCragHi! I've been using this exact player for about a year now, almost exclusively for ±1 hour long podcasts.
The good news: The device remembers where you left off. If the battery dies or if you turn it off, you can continue playback during your next session no problem.
However, if you accidentally skip to the next track or play something else in between, it forgets the position you were at. I've repeatedly "butt dialed" the next chapter in an audiobook only to skip back to find out the megamini forgot i was 45 minutes into an episode of radiolab.
@Farnham: I can validate your concerns. The player forgets where you were if you skip and fast forwarding is complete hell on this device. It's painfully slow. We're talking roughly 3sec/1min at constant speed, which can easily add up to a minute or two skipping time in audio books.

Thanks so much, @jasdfhg. The programming sounds eerily similar to the cheapo AGPTek mp3 player I've been using for the last few years. Fast-forwarding is hell... and it only remembers your place if you power off, not if you skip to another track. I bought the AGPTek player to replace my Sansa device which eventually died after several years. Buying a new Sansa device seemed absurdly expensive compared to other offerings. In retrospect it was a big mistake. On top of the frustrating interface issues, the AGPTek is failing in the same way the Sansa eventually did... the soldering for the headphone jack is beginning to break down and I'm losing sound in one ear from time to time. It's only a matter of time before it's unlistenable, so I'm in the market again. I was hoping this Hifiman Megamini DAP would fit the bill... by most accounts it sounds like a robust little unit. But if using it is a pain then it's pointless to consider it. And I'm not seeing any custom firmwares out there that could sort it out. :(
Thanks again for addressing the issues though! Very helpful
