Edward351Honestly I should probably stop being stupid and just pick up a cheap hobbyist one, as I'll probably only ever use the more basic functions.
That being said yeah I'd been looking at Rigol, SIGLENT, or Tektronix. If I were to buy used I've also looked at some older HP ones.

DrKhanMDYeah I'm in the same boat. The cheap USB scopes seem too limited flimsy, it's nice to have a screen and the buttons to set your triggering, scales, etc.

DrKhanMDI recommend the Siglent SDS 1202X-E for the money (under $400, sometimes even below $350). It even has UART included with no hidden costs as other brands have done. It's a 2Ch 200 MHz SPO scope (shows colors for intensity). It can display the screen output either over USB to your PC or over ethernet. I have yet to find a negative for this scope after 1-2 years of usage.

At lot of the stuff in the past kinda felt like little cheesy projects and what not. The product lineup recently has really been stepped up it feels.
Now I wait patiently for a decent scope to be offered :L
