Each drop of these is getting closer and closer to the one I actually want. Can we please get a drop of the brass handle white paper steel reverse tanto folder? Pretty pretty please?

planb10113I actually came here to say almost the same thing..... I'm fine with blue steel, but want the brass handle!
Now a drop of super blue on brass....😍

KavikI'm with you, if this drop had the brass handle I probably would have jumped on it. But a boy can dream!

planb10113If we're dreaming... I might even switch it up to copper 😁
I keep eyeing one on JapaneseKnifeImports in copper, but it's $85 and they haven't listed the steel types for those blades, other than "carbon steel". They have other very interesting options there as well, besides brass and copper. Might be time to drop Jon there another email to get more info

KavikYou might check out BladeHQ.com and even ebay. The nice ones are right around the $85 you mentioned, but they at least list the type of steel (some on ebay don't, but others do, just gotta look through).

planb10113Is brass the most tradittional handle material for a higono folder? Seems like that's everyone's favorite, and while I like the look of it well enough, personally I prefer copper or a nice, colorful wood like rosewood, thuja, or cocobollo (which my little custom higonokami is made from). But the preference for brass seems so universal that I wondered if its based on more than simple aesthetics.
The white paper, howerver, i understand and heartily second. I'm still going to grab one of these, though. I don't have one of this type. No idea which color to pick though.

planb10113If going the same price anyway, I'd prefer sticking with JKI. Have done a fair amount of business with them, it's a nice family run business, and the owners are super nice, helpful, and a pleasure to deal with.......they just don't always have every detail you'd want listed on their site, but are always knowledgeable about every product they carry if you have a question

HatuletohI can't speak to tradition, but for me it's all about aesthetics with the brass handle. This is a classic knife and I think it looks most "classic" with the brass. I'm pretty sure you can find copper variants out there of the Higonokami, but if you're looking for a classy wood handle knife, check out what Mcusta has to offer. Really nice quality and they often show up here on Massdrop for about 50 bucks less than you'd pay elsewhere.
