Just opened mine. I'd be better off with a bitter knife. Sure it cuts if you count the "handle". You would be better off just going to Wal-Mart and spending 5-10 bucks on a crapy little knife. The blade is dull and the handle is sharp enough to cut you when you first open it.

Wolfman887Mine came very sharp and the handle was decent. I think you might have gotten the short end of the stick this time.

Wolfman887hmmm... maybe you where expecting one of those spyderco that are priced really high .. those are pretty and confortable but they have absolutely no history behind them... as of this one, it has history going back to 1860 so... maybe just bring back your expectation down to earth especialy for a 15$ knife

ohlyverI expect not to cut myself on the handle when I open it. I also expect it to open mail without ripping the envelope in half. I expect the grind to be even not 1/8th Off from one side to the other. If it worked as a knife or if you could disassemble it in order to make repairs yourself it would probably be wonderful however they put the biggest rivet in this knife that I have ever seen and I'm not sure I'll be able to find another one.

WolfOFJaxYea that's what I'm thinking. As it stands I'll have to sand the handle and grind/shape the blade profile. It would be easier if it didnt have a huge rivit holding it together. Mabie I could use a connecting screw instead of a rivit.

Wolfman887okay look, its true its not the most comfortable knife but those are made since the the of the 19th century, which shows that its a succesful design. for 15$ i'm pretty sure olden days people would just get a new one if theirs broke.
I bought a somewhat decent quality knife a few years back and it had the worst factory edge i've seen..
as for the rivet, its made originaly from a small rod which is hammered. its not the end of the world buddy you just need to get creative .. maybe you'll get your desired feel out of it if you mod it a little bit

Wolfman887I had to do a bit of work with my knife, but then again it was to be expected from such a cheap knife. I find it relaxing and fun to fine-tune little details of a new knife. It was rough around the edges sure, but it's all fun in the end :)

ohlyverI agree with most of what you are saying but it looks like quality controle was not on there game. My friends came in nice and sharp and the handle doesn't try to cut you. Mine need a new edge profile ground into it, if I had a belt grinder it wouldn't be a problem but with sand paper on a block it would take forever. As it is right now the knife is unusable and there for is not a knife and I don't need a paper weight.
