I have these and really like them, but was wondering if anyone has directly compared them (or the MKIII's) to the JBL LSR305's. The few reviews I've been able to find seem to strongly favor these bi-amped JBL's over both, but didn't consider the JBL to even be in the same league, since they were much more expensive when they first came out. But now that you can pick up the JBL's on sale for $99 ea. (delivered), it seems more than fair to directly compare them with the HiVi (Swans) M200's (both MKII and MKIII).

MaryaAre you sure you're not confusing the JBL Studio 530...which is passive and bi-ampable... The LSR305 is powered and not bi-ampable.

CukedaddyNope. I actually have the Studio 530's (and matching Sub 560P) for the living room. Still on the lookout for a great amp for them, though. The LSR305's are internally bi-amped, like the M200MKIII's, except that each speaker has it's own dual plate amp, while the MKIII's pack all the active electronics into one speaker. Due to the phenomenal reviews on the LSR305's, and the excellent Black Friday pricing ($99 ea., delivered) I have a pair on their way. I expect they'll displace the M200MKII's on my desktop. If so, I'll add the matching sub (LSR310S) the next time a good deal comes up. My guess is that the LSR305's will outperform the M200MKIII's as well, but would love to hear if anyone has auditioned them against each other. Having a matching sub is a huge plus for the LSR305's, in my opinion. I actually have the Swans M50W as well, but haven't even opened the box. I really like the size and looks of them for the desktop, but don't think I'd ever be completely satisfied with the sound from them. Perhaps I'll use those on my laptop.

MaryaCould you test those M50Ws. From what i heard they need a good burn in before they show thier true colors around 60-70hrs. I would like to know what you think of them compared to your other speakers. They wont get as loud but id like to know what the sound quality is liek comapred to the others. Thanks
