I've made comments about this knife before. One of the things I noted was that the handle was a bit uncomfortable because of the coarse bevels and sharp edges on the scales.
Well, after using it for a while, I'm not bothered at all by the scales in actual use. In fact, this knife has really grown on me and has become one of my primary go-to knives.
I like it because the blade is really solid and sturdy. It has a good, weighty heft to it, and the way the it's ground makes it feel super strong.
I own dozens of folders, primarily Spydercos, Kershaws, and ZTs, and I have to say this is one of the most durable knives out of the lot. In fact, it feels so strong and solid, it's become my primary work knife.
In addition to the full size Axis, I recently received an Axis mini. I'm thrilled with the quality of both. Blades were perfectly centered, and there's nothing that seems wrong at all. I'm very pleased with the quality.
I'm actually surprised at how much I like the mini version. I usually prefer full sized folders and find smaller knives, like the Spyderco Delica 4 or Native 5 FRN, to function superbly, but feel somewhat insubstantial. But the hefty blade on the Axis mini makes it feel very solid and substantial. It's very satisfying to hold and use.
I highly recommend the Axis. Definitely a strong workhorse of a knife.
