Keep Control
The Stage System comes with three units: a Control Center and two Speakers. The Control Center has all of the computing power, including an asynchronous USB DAC (same as you find in the high-end Music Streamer DACs), an analogue preamplifier, and a linear analogue power amplifier with 70 W of juice. The pure analog path is optimized for a wide range of signal sources and extends low frequency response with near zero distortion.
Speak Easy
As for the speakers themselves, every part was chosen with the purest sound in mind, and backed by superior structure. The three proprietary 70 mm woofers are framed and the 28 mm tweeter (also proprietary) is housed in an acoustical chamber constructed via injection molding for elegant consistency. The same excellence can be seen in the magnetic elements, as both the woofer and tweeter have under-hung voice coils and modulation reducing magnetic shorting rings. This makes for enormous and exquisitely detailed sound that can fill any room size within reason.
Found Sound
Okay, sure, we just threw some science around, but you’re still wondering: how’s it sound? We can answer in two words: rich and powerful. Rich as in detailed, as in you will hear new aspects to your favorite songs, rediscover forgotten records, and generally be blown away by your ability to separate any and all instruments on any given track. Powerful as in quantified bass extension. Measured with only a -2db volume drop at 45hz, the Stage will accuratly portray every audible bass note without issue.
Bonus Round
Just setting up some superb sound isn’t enough- you need some extras. The control panel is completely painless, as it only features four buttons: volume up, volume down, mute, and input selection. Depending what sampling rate you’re running, embedded LEDs blink back your setting. Finally, just in case you wanted to mount these puppies instead of set them on a shelf, they come ready with brass screw threads at the base of each speaker.
