Update to my previous comment complaining about lack of updates. Just recently Huawei has announced that they will actually bring Android 8.0 "Oreo" to few Huawei and Honor models including my P9. I almost feel bad that my comment got so many likes and probably steered away potential Huawei buyers.
I think you misunderstand me. Whether or not I trust any of those companies was irrelevant to my comment. If US telecom companies and/or the US govt don't trust Huawei, then people who own their products may find their support discontinued.
yeah but no, at least with US corporations we can trust they'll keep us around because they want our money and need us to survive, the Chinese government on the other hand who the hell knows what they may decide to do one day, they are like half a step away from becoming a dictatorship.
beyond that American companies like google and apple are still American they have a vested interest in protecting our country and keeping America prosperous.
this is national security level stuff with huawei not just apple or google reporting your search history to NSA or whatever paranoid conspiracy you want to come up with, this is the Chinese government installing backdoor access into American server rooms across the country.... saying that is just as bad as what google does basically tells me you don't fully grasp the situation here.
Just a heads up. I have Huawei P9 which is a flagship phone from 2016. It was released with Android 6.0 "Marshmallow" and received only one major update to 7.0 "Nougat". It is semi-confirmed P9 will not be getting 8.0 "Oreo". Same goes for few other Huawei models. So only one major update which is around one year life cycle. Only one year support for premium product. My next phone is definitely not Huawei.
I have the Honor 6x and my wife the Honor 8. We love Huawei phones, the power you get for the price beats out anything out there. The Huawei launcher for the Android OS feels like a mix between Android and Apple, I didn't like it very much...BUT I just installed my own launcher and couldn't be happier. We use our phones on the Cricket/ATT network.
