Avoid this company (HUBSAN) and this drone. Bought this quadcopter on Gearbest (took them an entire month of nearly daily communication to refund me my money) however, big mistake. I've asked Hubsan the question that I posted here twice and to help out with my clearly malfunctioning drone and I have still received no response.
The controller would not power on with fully charged batteries. The drone itself would take off and immediately head into a wall testing it in a garage and flew across my driveway into a neighboor's tree but thankfully came back and landed in mine! This caused a motor to stop working and several propellers cracked off.
So disappointed with this whole experience, I hope someone else is having fun with theirs...

This looks like the Hubsan X4 Desire Drone (Model 502S) on the B&H Photo website, which is $149.. There is a Model 502E, without follow mode for $40. Hmmm... I wonder if this isn't something different. Anyway, I bought one from this family for $30 (has same camera abilities, memory card slot, etc) during Cyber Monday sales. Can't tell you the specs as it was mailed to a different address as a present. At any rate, B&H Photo has a lot of Hubsan parts and accessories.

HollowStateWow, in the last ten minutes, B&H stopped the sale and the 502E is now $80.

Where can I purchase additional batteries and parts for this quadcopter? The product isn't listed on the site yet. Looks like a fun little drone but having a spare battery or case would be excellent...

also, does my phone connect to the drone directly (ad-hoc) or both of them have to be in a wifi network?

Cferrer1983Typically, within this Hubsan family, the LCD screen on the transmitter is for control. You have to have an app on your phone to view the video feed. Sometimes you can record on your phone, or you can record to memory on the drone.

1) brushed or brushless ? 2) altitude hold with the throttle stick or you have to push a button?

Apparently you did indeed miss a post or two. In fact, B&H sold a drone like this, perhaps even this one, for under $100. You missed a pretty good Cyber Monday sale. Be that as it may, the fact remains that this family of drones has received poor reviews - check B&H or YouTube. Perhaps poor reviews prompted the big markdown. My $30 drone was advertised to have 720p camera w/on-board memory card slot, auto-hover and more. No follow me , or GPS. Have a nice day.

Cferrer1983Owned it.
1. Whichever option offers little to no protection. 2. Both surprisingly! Too bad mine kept flying into a wall after take off.

vcondryA similar model says 12 minutes of flytime and so does Gearbest.com and range of between 200 to 250 meters. Of course, wait for the people to make a decision before commitment but this seems like a good deal. Can't vouch for the product though...

vcondryI never tried it too far away from outside my garage as it died but the flight time is pretty accurate!

1SWAT1No. Mine would gladly and continuously flying into a wall with little to no input. Hopefully your experience is better...
