Compared to well-known brands such as Camelbak, is this one better? It seems to have nice features that were not in the products of the mentioned brand, but the last time I purchased from Camelbak was many years ago...

Hydrapak is a very quiet company, though they are coming out into the light more and more each year. A number of years ago, when they start up, they only sold directly from their website. Ever so slowly they started making in-roads into the industry, and started making bags for some of the big name brands. These days, with the exception of the likes of Camelbag, MSR, and a few others, if you see a water bladder out there, at least not a cheap-ass one, it is probably a Hydrapak. They have become known across the industry as some of the toughest bags. Usually the dead-give-away that a bladder is a rebranded Hydrapak is the closure bar. But anyway, yeah, Hydrapak is one of the best on the market these days. Don't get me wrong, it is no MSR Dromedary, but probably the next in line on the best of the best list. I am pretty sure even Geigerrig has 100% switched to using the Hydrapak bladders, and they have always been a top dog in the industry, even though they are a rather strange sub-market in the bladder market.

atari.super.nesHydrapak is the best, imho, but other brands have upped their game a little in the last couple years. They started out with Dakine and Geigerrig, always been the same high quality material. Never had a leak or a burst out of the four I own & use...did have to get one replaced after I abused it with too much bleach (better to use non-bleach sterilizing tabs or other methods). The brand new 2017 MSR Dromlite bags are worth a look too if your needs are more for storage or gravity filtering rather than a straight up drinking bladder. Much prefer these slide-zip closures instead of screw lids. Easy, quick, and effective.
