I havent scrolled through. But guys, this latest post says it smells and can't be washed out, and no one refutes it or tried to figure out why?
I was thinking of dropping. Guess I'll have to read more below.

BrainFlushAll I can say is that the particular one I got from Amazon was like that. Some of the reviewers on Amazon were saying they tasted bad.. Others said theirs were fine. The ones being drooped here may or may not be fine. I don't know.
If I could have gotten the smell out I would have liked it.

chuggerdid you try bleach? i used a 1:4 bleach solution and was able to get rid of the taste.

chuggerThere are 2 things you haven't tried: anti-bacterial denture tablets, and betadine at raw water treatment strength. I use the denture tablets instead of soap and use the betadine treatment prior to use for items that were stored clean for a few months. I think I learned about using the denture tablets from BackpackingLight instead of buying the much more expensive Camelbak tablets. The Walmart brand has worked fine for me.

BrainFlushTypically, I only do the extra step for items that I don't really have a way to dry upside-down, may take a while to dry (sometimes days), and may not be used for months. Those usage on those items corresponds with the 2 times a year the air turns yellow from oak and cedar pollen.

chuggerWell, I soaked it filled with bleach water (about 25%) overnight. Rinsed and let soak with pure water multiple times the following day. Refrigerated filled with water. Still didn't taste right. (Plastic or glue taste?)
Rinsed, refilled, let set. Same thing
Emptied, left cap off to air out. Filled with water, let it set just a couple minutes. Tasted it and spat it out. Doesn't even taste safe to me.
At this point, even if I could find a way to get the taste out I wouldn't trust it. And it's just not worth the time, effort or expense of trying to make something work that should have worked to begin with.
I give up (again). I'll stick with my Evernew collapsables, Smart Water bottles,, Geigerrig bladder (also made by HydraPak) etc. Even my Nalgene tastes fine as long as I don't leave water sitting in it more than a couple days.

BrainFlushNot sure if it had to do with the way the older bottles are made or what. I bought one about 2 years ago and it definitely tastes weird despite my cleaning efforts. Bought another one a few weeks ago and I'm using it regularly with no taste issues.

robdeezI ordered mine from Amazon around December 1st 2016 so maybe it was an older bottle too?
If I walked into a supplier and found one on the shelf I'd possibly screw the lid off, have a smell and buy it if it smelled like it might be okay. I won't another online though.

CooledFocusThank you @CooledFocus . Truthfully, I gave up on the Stash bottle. The link might help someone else though.
I tried lemon juice and water, but didn't freeze it afterwards.
I'll stick with my Evernews, Saywers, Smartwater bottles, etc.

CooledFocusSame here. I got two 1 liters from a previous drop like this and they taste foul. I've frozen both bottles with lemon juice and let melt at least 4 times.
It's a real shame. I love the idea, design, aesthetic, and portability of these bottles and how they can double as neat little waterbed pillows, but you shouldn't need to do all this work (that may likely never solve it) for a product you pay for.
I'll update if I actually fix the taste/odor

chuggerUPDATE: mine developed that terrible plasticy taste after about a week of regular use. I also soaked in vinegar, cleaned thoroughly with no luck. Chemical taste persists. Bad product. Don’t buy.

gnarledcouleesame here. all hydrapak containers have a terrible chemical taste that never gets any better. try to cook water stored in hydrapak and watch the weird foam develop. bad call on the FDA to ever approve those things...

I washed it with hot soapy water. I tried soaking filled with vinegar. I tried soaking filled with vinegar and baking soda. I tried soaking filled with water and lemon juice. I tried masking it with mouthwash.
To me it still tastes so much like plastic that I won't drink out of it. Nor will I let my dog.
My Geigerrig bladder is also manufactured by Hydrapak and water from it tastes fine. Just not the Hydrapak Stash bottle.
Maybe I just got one from a bad run or something but honestly, as much as I like the concept I wouldn't risk buying another one for fear it would be like the one I already have.
