We're gonna go ahead and drop the lowest price by $5—to $54.95.
Why? First—iFixit <3s all you good people on Massdrop. And second—we thought this deal was awesome and want to respond positively to your collective "meh." Turns out some of you are better at hunting deals than we are at making deals. :)
To the comments about the All-new Pro Tech Toolkit: Yes, the product offered here is our classic toolkit + our magnetic project mat. The All-new Pro Tech Toolkit is very different—but that's no reflection of the the quality of the classic toolkit. And, of course, the classic kit will always be honored by our Lifetime Warranty.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Jeff_SnyderDropping the low end $5 does nothing to make this a better deal. How about explaining just why this old kit is worth as much (plus shipping delays) as the new kit, available for the same price or less?
saibooguThe difference is the Magnetic Project Mat that comes bundled with the classic Pro Tech Toolkit (https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Magnetic-Project-Mat/IF145-167-4).
As to the difference to the Pro Tech Toolkits—old vs. new—it just depend on what you're interested in working on. The classic kit has a wider variety of metal prying tools a different set of tweezers, a knife, and a machinists ruler. The new kit has different/thinner plastic opening tools to adapt to design trends favoring thinner/adhesive-laden devices. It just depends on what you're interested in working on.
If you don't want the Magnetic Project Mat—and are interested in the thinner plastic opening tools—then maybe this bundle isn't for you. If you want a kickass bundle of tools for all things DIY repair at an awesome price, then this kit is for you.

saibooguI was wondering that as well.. I haven't bothered reading through some of the older comments and instead just google the new kit and found for $10 dollars and quicker turnaround time I'd be entitled to a newer kit with 10 extra pieces as well..

saibooguIf you don't need the magnetic mat, this kit is not for you. I don't know if you have actually looked at the difference between the old and new kits, but the tools are slightly different. I prefer the old, so this is a great deal for me.

Jeff_SnyderHey Jeff! Any chance I could get some help with my issue? I copied and pasted my post below:
"Heads up before anyone makes the same mistake I did: The plastic film that hangs off of the edge of the magnetic mat is NOT to be removed. Removing it, removes the ability to use it as a quick erase surface."
TJ_GeeSure—email me at jeffs@ifixit.com and I'll take care of you.
