I got mine yesterday and I'm suffering some of the same problems. All the even number keys, F4 and F7 keys don't work, meaning I can't use some of the lighting options. :-(. When I first went to plug it in as well the micro USB port moved and its out of place so it's a pain to plug it in. It's my first mech and I was so excited to get it. Has anyone sent anything back to massdrop before? What happens? I'm scared to DIY it myself as I feel £135 for a product, shouldn't need me to pull it apart to fix it. The only problem with sending it back is I'm in the uk and if I was to get a replacement i'd have to pay customs again. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I've sent a support ticket to MD so waiting to hear back. I've attached a picture to show the port.

GhostnotesReading all these horror stories is making me nervous, it's going to be my first mechanical keyboard and I'm also in the UK. Haven't received mine yet so I hope it works ok, please update on any information you get :S

ElectricFingaWill do! :-) What I'm hoping for is if I have to attempt to fix it myself, possibly with something sent to me to fix it properly. I get a partial refund. I hope yours works perfectly. Fingers crossed for you!

GhostnotesOther than this board (which I'm sending back today), I've only had to send one defective item back before. Basically you just email customer service, explain your problem (defective product), and they'll email a prepaid shipping label to return the product. Then you just pack it up and mail it back. When they get the item they'll credit whatever account you paid for the item with. Easy as pie.
I wouldn't bother with a replacement in this case because it will likely have the same problems and you'll pay customs again. I'm not sure about a partial refund or materials to fix the problem though. You could ask i guess, worst case scenario they just say no.

LevelSteamThanks for that info. I thought it would be relatively simple to send back :-). The only annoyance is that I really wanted this metal keyboard. But you're right it's clearly got a manufacturing fault as its not just mine, so getting a replacement would be a waste of time and money.
I'll see what they say when they reply. If you never ask you'll never get so fingers crossed for a partial refund :-). I hope you find another keyboard. :-)

GhostnotesNo problem! It's honestly an easy fix, and it would be worth it for me to keep if massdrop would do a partial refund, but paying full price for a product that I have to refurb myself just doesn't sit right with me.
If you can find a sheet of neoprene rubber (probably around less than a mm thick) trim it to size, and attach it with a couple strips of double sided tape, I think that would work better than electrical tape or paper like some people are putting in theirs. I've insulated custom boards with it before without any issues, and if you ever need to pull it out for any reason you won't end up with a ton of goo on the frame like you will with electrical tape.

LevelSteamYeah that's exactly my feelings too. The manufacturer should make something that works out the box, unless they disclaim at the point of sale *some assembly required* ;-).
Thanks for the tip! I'll maybe buy some rubber once I see what they say to a partial refund. I'll let you know what they say, maybe it'll help you too! :-)

ElectricFingaHey! Thought I'd reply with an update. Massdrop got back to me and said they would refund the money and it would be a free return. Could also possibly get the customs fee refunded too. They weren't able to do a partial refund. :-(. Any ways decided to open it up and see for myself. It was super easy to do. I nipped down to Homebase to see if I could get anything to help insulate the base. Found some toolboxes with shelf liners inside. Guy gave me the liner for free! Went back, cut it up and it works like a dream.
Going to contact iKBC support though and see what they say. But from a complete novice with mechs, it was super simple to fix. :-). Hope your's is fine! :-)
