I was in fhe Feather AS D2 buy and certainly would have been in this one had I been notified. Last week I ordered an OSS from Bullgoose. Very disappointing.

Considering that the real retail price for this razor is $125 from the manufacturer and all of the vendors, it is not a large savings. Nonetheless, saved money is money that I can spend elsewhere. I'm excited to try this beautiful piece of machinery.
I bought this razor during the first Massdrop and it has been the best purchase I've made so far. It shaves better than my previous razor (Merkur Futur) and works with any blade I've thrown it in. The built quality is incredible and the shave quality even better.

Buy this razor if you'd like to never worry about getting anymore. iKon is releasing a Slant head later this year, so I plan on buying that to use on this razor, but I don't plan on needing anything else except blades.
The main reason for the higher selling point is the higher quality materials used in the construction of it. This is stainless steel. It will probably outlast you. Most modern razors from Merkur, Edwin Jagger, and Muhle are made of cheaper grade pot metal. I've heard of people with these razors have them break apart after dropping them. You may not find it matters to you of course as it's your own personal preference.
This razor has an open comb side and a standard flat side. This design makes the open comb side more aggressive and the standard side about what you would get from your Merkur. The open comb design is useful for when you have several days worth of stubble or even a full on beard growing and you need to cut it down easily.
Old school razors are great, they were definitely built to last as many people have razors that have been passed down generation to generation. I've heard of people owning razors that are 100 years old! The ones you're looking for there are great finds if you don't want to get one of these style. Though you'll find that even used they'll often times costs the same or more than modern razors.
