So, I bit the bullet on this drop. I purchased this mainly to use for Search and Rescue purposes. This sucker is BRIGHT! Of course on Turbo mode it will only shine for a minute or so before it starts to overheat. Speaking of overheating, I consider this an unintended benefit. If your hands are cold, just kick this thing on Turbo for about 30 seconds and BAM instant hand warmer.
It is sorta heavy, and it is actually fairly comfortable to hold. I wish it had some sort of lanyard hole to make it a little easier to transport, but with the included holster, I think it will be just fine.
Anyway, I am happy with my purchase so far. I haven't had the opportunity to try it in the field yet, but I anticipate this will be a great addition to my SAR pack. I will more than likely continue to mainly use my Princeton Tech Viz headlamp as my main light source, opting for this handheld flashlight in more specific cases. But I believe this will be very useful tool for my needs.

I'm getting by with flashlights from Daiso or the dollar store and big bricks of loss-leader batteries.

Wow, that's an expensive flashlight.
How comfortable is it to hold? It doesn't look terribly comfortable.

Can a light like this really put out 16,000 lumes?

BarryOProbably for less than 30sec before it overheats and probably only a few mins overall before the battery drains. But that's how most flashlights work. I haven't tried this one.

"four rechargeable lithium-ion batteries"
*What* batteries? I'm not exactly expecting 18650s in this thing, but any info - make, model no., whatever - on one the more crucial parts of this light would be nice.
