brownsoxLooking again, my set in particular does have little nicks and scratches when you look closely.. Structurally they are like new, they just aren't prestine in condition, as you would expect from something you bought brand new.
The only other difference is that you don't get the balanced cable as I mentioned. For effectively half the price getting the B stock, its a slam dunk deal imo.

XannenSome people might be saying its a sham, but others are just trying to at least give some warning about Bob and the way he acted during the whole trinity debacle. Some of us followed that whole thing through, and got ripped off. Whether this company is a sham or not, trinity clearly ended up that way, and regardless of what he has done since he left trinity, he was a big part of trinity and was heavily involved in lying to customers for over a year. Then after presenting himself as the face of the company, he disappeared and immediately threw trinity under the bus.
Hopefully he turned his act around here, but personally, I will never do business with this guy again, regardless of how any of you might feel about this IEM or how you feel about your experiences with this "new" company. People were singing the same praises of trinity at the beginning too.
So, buy it or dont buy it, its your call, but I think the warnings people are giving are extremely relevant to the discussion here. Your personal positive experiences dont negate everyone elses personal negative experiences with this guy.

I too fell victim to a Kickstarter debacle at the hands of Kanoa, promising wireless earbuds.. had money as a placeholder for years awaiting my set and then in the late stages they "ran out of investment" and packed it up with a single note on their website.
I managed to get my money back fortunately, but is definitely left me wary of companies that sell a concept rather than a fully fleshed product.
In IMR's case, this is a working and delivered product, so if it's just a case of ethics then that is understandable.. but that doesn't mean the product should be dragged through the mud. To date, I have read no buyers get screwed over by IMR.. only happy experiences.. on Head-Fi and beyond

I have not actually listened to these or purchased from "IMR" but again, its close enough related to trinity (to the point that IMR used trinitys mailing list) that the trust that evaporated from trinity is more than enough to have convinced me to not buy from Bob here. And again, I think its relevant information for people to have. Its also relevant as well that the people who have gotten these like them and havent had bad experiences directly with IMR yet.

Seems in this thread there is a bunch of speculation toward this being some shifty company and that you may not receive your product based on a company that Bob worked for prior (Trinity).. ???
Anyway.. my experiences so far are as follows:
I ordered a pair of B-Stock from IMR's Facebook page which redirected me to the IMR Site. B Stock becomes available from time to time. I was able to snag a pair for $450CAD (Normally they are selling for 500 pound or 675 US). Unfortunately due to Canadian customs, they took a LONG time to arrive. After 6 weeks I finally reached back out to Bob and asked if there was anything he could do on his end, since Canada Post is crap and doesn't offer tracking once an international package arrives to Canada's border. He even offered to pack up another pair and send them my way, however fortuitously, they arrived the next day.
Packaging was great, the box features the headphones, the filters (5 in total - Black, Orange, Pink, Copper and Blue) as well as a bunch of ear tips. With the BStock, you only get the standard rubber cable, and not the balanced cable. In my case unfortunately I found that none of the eartips fit me properly. I ended up purchasing a pair of Spinfit which do a much better job, though still not perfect. The R1 is a bit of a unique shape, which I could see causing fitment issues for some people. In my case the shape of them isn't an issue, just the eartips which are preventing me for getting consistent seal and sonic performance.
The rubber cable is less than ideal as well as its fairly tense and has a coil effect to it. I always intended on getting an aftermarket litz cable for it, but its worth mentioning. Performance and build quality of the cable however is perfectly adequate.
Speaking of build quality, the IEMs themselves are built like a tank. Super nice quality build materials, yet remain fairly light. They have a very industrial look (which I really like) and also feature a port that can be opened and closed to change the soundstage somewhat. I found that this is highly dependent on the music you're listening to, and in many cases the effects of adjusting this doesn't have that huge an effect on the overall sound. That said, the largest changes I experienced on setting from closed to open was to the low end more than mids or highs in almost all cases. Soundstage does widen somewhat, but again, YMMV
As far as sonic performance, and the real reason that I went ahead and ordered these IEMs, they are absolutely STUNNING. I listening to mostly Drum and Bass, where the music is very quick, with lots of transients and a wide array of drum samples, effects and loops, generally 173-176bpm. For this type of music, the faster response the better as far as headphone performance, along with frequency response, since lows mids and highs are all featured in Drum and Bass. I also listen to Wave, Pop, Downtempo, Trip Hop and Folk. Obviously for wider arrays of genres, any single headphone may excel at one but not another.
In the case of the R1, I have been surprised with practically everything I've listened to. I have used them listening to the genres mentioned both on my $2k+ Desktop system, as well as my phone (OnePlus 3T) and have been consistently blown away by the sound that these things put out. The filters I've used are the Black (More Bass, Standard Mids/Highs), the Pink (Less Bass than black, but same Mids/Highs), and the blue (Most neutral response). I have settled on the Black as they provide to my ears the best performance with Bass music. Unlike many other headphones, the bass on the R1 doesn't envelope the rest of the sound spectrum. It digs deep, and still maintains a clear middle and high end, yes has an engaging and exciting sound signature.
Truly, these are headphones that will make you go through your library impatiently seeing how they respond to all the music you love listening to. I also use them for PC Gaming through my desktop setup and they perform amazingly.
Soundstage is also worth noting, as these do an amazing job with width, seperation and imaging. They offer very clear and detailed sound and for the price I just can't believe my ears sometimes.
I could go on and on about these.. I haven't even burned them in yet but am very very impressed thus far. Should these come back to massdrop at some point, I highly suggest taking a hard look at them if you're in the ballpark for a great set of IEMs that punch well above their weight. Alternatively, you can always grab a pair of the BStock from IMR or their facebook page. In my case my bstock are in terrific shape.. I don't see much in the way of scrathes or scuffs.. and really, I'm not bothered either way, and you won't be either once you hear how they sound.
Again, for anyone who is still insisting that this is some sham, please stop. I don't work for IMR, I am just a very happy owner of the R1. Please give them a try and reach out to Bob.. he was great to deal with and you can tell he cares about his customers.
