Instead of shitting all over these for "design copying" I am actually more interested in knowing how do they compare with my 1551CU. If anyone listened to both, please do tell.

OberonmeisterI preferred the original R1 to the 1551 but I've since sold it so I can't compare directly. I can say that the Zenith is a better ear phone than the R1 though so I think it should compare favourably. The Zenith has great soundstsage, depth and incredible bass and bass texture. It's also highly detailed. It can be hd800 like with the blue filter and an incredible bass head phone with the black or orange filter.

JayrockWell, I can imagine Zenith is better at least at customizability for sure. But you say it is better in every other way too. And it is also just $50 more than 1551. I really like my Acoustune but now I'm a bit frustrated knowing I could add 50 bucks and get something even better and also tune it even more to my liking. Oh well, there's no point in regretting. Acoustune is still good one too.

OberonmeisterWell I would never advise someone to spend money if they are happy with their current equipment but the zenith is an easy headphone to recommend. Its very sensitive to tip rolling and the filters have a profound effect on the overall sound. You can pretty much tune them to your desired signiture with a few hours of experiments. Obviously you can also change the signiture for different music genres should you feel you need to. I use black for reggae and edm etc and pink for everything else. That's using foam tips. Silicone has a completely different signiture but I tend to prefer the smoothness of foam.

JayrockThanks for your answer. I think, my 1551 is gonna be with me for a long time now. When I'm gonna feel the need to go further, I don't think Zenith would be a sizable enough improvement over 1551. From here, I think it is worth it to go all in and just order a 64audio custom 18-driver abomination and finally calm down knowing there is nothing better left to crave.

OberonmeisterMaybe you should try those new JVC Victor FW10k out... much better than 64audio, according to those who have tried both including the new IER-Z1R

JD_djUm... Much better than 18-driver custom IEM that is commonly referred as the best you can possibly get for any money? I honestly find it hard to believe. Please provide me with some links to support your claim, if not too much trouble.

OberonmeisterThe usual place... =D jmills8 said:
Z5 was like 500usd and the z1r is 2000 usd? I demoed the 10000 and z1r and owned two z5s. 10000 > Z5 > Z1r.

I redemoed the z1r, U18 , Hifiman 2000 , Solaris, and a few Fitear iems and hands down the jvc sounded the best. Seperation, details, dynamics, tone, depth, sound stage goes to the jvc 10000.
I'm with you on both these counts pal. Have lived with my FW10K for a couple of weeks now, during which my U18+dream duet combo found no air time. Demoed the Solaris in between and can't imagine any reason to get it. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/victor-ha-fw10000-10th-anniversary-model.891366/page-8

JD_djWell, if you read a bit more carefully, you would find that I mentioned CUSTOM A18. Many people said that u18 actually sounds not nearly as good as a custom solution. Apparently, 64audio couldn't reach the same level of repeatability as Unique Melody did with their Mason. Maybe it would be a good idea to reshell your u18 into a custom IEM as it was intended from the beginning?
