Do I Need to Lube My Keyboard Switches?
Figure 1: Sometime around here is a good time to ask that question... If you’re new to the mechanical keyboard hobby, I have no doubt that planning your first keyboard build is a bit of a daunting task. To be entirely honest with you, it’s only a tiny bit less daunting for your second or even third keyboard builds should you stay around a little while longer. You’ve got the keyboard itself to worry about, stabilizers, keycaps, and even switches on top of all of the intangible marks you want your dream keyboard to hit. Switches are especially daunting right out of the gate as there’s just so many options out there to pick from – each with their own unique specifications, manufacturers, and more. Yet, in spite of all of these differences between switches, time and time again I find people always asking about lubing switches as one of their chief concerns when it comes to picking some up. With countless numbers of content creators talking about lubing switches, its no...

I have been waiting for longer then a year for this. Without the ergodox, i can't continui programming. My keyboard doesnt allow me totype and work faster.
I don't have patients with this drop anymore. I need it to boost my career. I'm going to buy the ergodox ez. Sad that the ez doesn't have lcd display.
You can reach me at olivier.pons on gmail (it can't be easier!).
I have a planck keyboard, a preonic keyboard, and the Infinity.
Here are my notes for the ergonomic side: - 20/20 for the Infinity - 18/20 for the preonic - 09/20 for the planck (the missing row is definitely a major problem, I just can't use the keyboard at all)
Here are my notes for the source code + compilation: - with qmk_firmware : 20/20 for all the keyboards (and that's what you get with preonic and planck) - with original Infinity firmware : kiibohd : 05/20 (it wasn't even working on the Infinity right out of the box (and the author did recognize this himself WTF you have to look for older kiibohd releases))
The only thing that is better IMHO with plank and preonic is the sound: I've assigned a "bip" when going "up" layer and "bop" when going down, and it's incredibly effective! I'm missing those beeps on my Infinity, but everything else is much better on the Infinity!
The Planck I ordered in February was scheduled for May and delivery was delayed again just this week because there are not enough parts. Can't deny I'm really worried if the missing row is really that much of a problem, I hope you won't mind if I contact you at some later point for help.
By the way, I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 at the moment, do you think I'll be able to compile the QMK firmware without having to use some sort of Windows emulator?
=____= Now I'm really missing some Youtube ASMR videos of the Planck and Ergodox. Last one (an unboxing of the Falbatech Ergodox) is already a big month old. Vvlierberghe, when you receive that Ergodox EZ of yours, be sure to send us a little thrill, 'kay?
