I can't get the guide to work that RagingRoosevelt created. I keep seeing stuff about LEDs and that they are supported but not included. What exactly do I need to do to support the backlight and utilize LEDs. Would really appreciate if someone can just post once on what is necessary along with the options. Thanks!

everbsThe LED controller is built in and there are spots for the LEDs to go, but they just aren't included. I ordered a bunch from here: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/products/parts-and-accesssories/led-lights.html It was something like $20 for 110 white 3mm flangeless LEDs. They have coupons sometimes too.

everbsIf you're using Cherry MX or Gateron switches, search AliExpress for 3mm flangeless LED. The ones I found were about $5 per 100. They haven't arrived, expecting it within these few days. I'll let you know how well it fits Cherry MX switches when it arrives if you like. I think Gaterons can use flanged 3mm LEDs (much cheaper, about $1 per 100), but I'm not positive.

theimmcBe careful with AliExpress, you may not get the quality you'd get other places. I've had good and bad experiences. Just make sure there are lots of good reviews.

daniel.walmsleyI came home and the package was in my mailbox. I bought from "Shenzhen Molesmell Technology" (curious name). They're the only one with "flangeless 3mm" listing. I bought a pack of "water clear" and diffused whites. The water clear are completely transparent and appear brighter when viewed directly from the top, but at an angle, the diffused is brighter. There are some other results if you search "without flange" but prices are similar, except for one seller with fewer reviews selling 300 LEDs for $5.

everbsI'd like to jump on the Max Keyboard train. I swapped the LEDs in my Corsair K70 (nonRGB) and tried flangeless LEDs from various places. Max Keyboards were the only ones that maintained the same level of brightness across all the colors I bought (blue, white, orange). Where as others (ebay, amazon, local shops) didn't seem to be able to stay on par.
Plus you dont get diffused LEDs which means you get a much brighter light anyways.
