Re: captains chairs.
Check out this thread at GH https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78723.0
The matias ergo pro halves can be mounted on standard camera tripods! This gave me an idea... can the tripod mounts be purchased and mounted on any flat surface reasonably? http://www.amazon.com/Drift-Mount-Kit-DRIFT-ADHESIVE/dp/B00ANGJ2H8/ref=pd_sim_421_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=41GmRSzGNtL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=01YTHWK6KJM150YB6PX5
Then standard camera mounts can be used to clamp onto a chair and thread the ergodox halves onto the mount... They can be tilted and angled which seems like a great thing.
I may experiment with this - it'll take some time searching the internet for the right mounts / chair but it'll be a fun project.

localredheadThat's a great idea! Unfortunately, the ergodox doesn't have that camera mount on it. I haven't seen the ergodox case in person yet, so I'm wondering how hard it would be to mount the camera mount socket into it.

AnnirakSince the case comes disassembled, it wouldn't be hard to buy a tapping set and make the threads yourself. Acrylic takes a thread quite nicely.

CoruscoGood point - I think I'd try threading an additional acrylic or aluminum plate and mounting it below the case using longer screws, instead of modifying the case itself.
