So what are people doing for keycaps in the absence of the Granite and Carbon sets? Feels like all those special caps could be hard to find. I really want one of these, but there is a limit to my patience and interest in ferreting things out.
PotipharBreenThe drop has the option to include a full set of blank keycaps. If you are ok without printed legends this will be the simplest option. If you need printed legends you'll have to be either patient or creative right now.
domesdkgThanks, domesdkg, but I can't imagine typing without legends on an unfamiliar keyboard. That's the problem. I wonder how much trouble it is to label the keys.
CptCarnageGood idea, Cpt. Probably would have done it myself if I'd noticed that the kit offered only blank keys. Clueboard offers Selectric-style keys for the ErgoDox, but only the alphas are labeled, not the ones I most need. Sigh.
PotipharBreenIt's not all that bad, it was about the same for me as learning the Kinesis Advantage. I used a label maker to tag the two home keys for the first few weeks just to get oriented.
DataThanks for the thought. Googled. Not sure, but it looks like the Ergodox versions are available only through Massdrop. Or were. Maybe caps from my old Microsoft and Logitech keyboards would work for the alphanumerics. Gotta say, it may not be a problem for most builders, but selling a keyboard kit only with blank caps seems perverse, especially when the layout is so novel. Despite which, the more we talk about it, the closer I get to pulling the trigger.
PotipharBreenYou'll not typically find key sets with specialty kits (like Dox) outside of group buys. Lately, Massdrop and PMK have been the only places to get them.
