Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Over the course of this week, we have been following up with some of the vendors that are producing key components for this buy, and they have let us know their estimates for each part of the project.
Keycaps (in production, 4-6 weeks out) PCB (in production, blank PCB finalized, assembled PCB in progress, 3-4 weeks out) Case (in production, request for revision by vendor for Standard, 3-5 weeks out) Switches (ordered and 2 weeks out) Stabilizer Set (ordered and on track and 2 weeks out)
Given that all of the components must arrive before we can ship out, we will be limited by whatever part has the slowest delivery for the entire order.
As a result of this new information, we may experience some delays in the neighborhood of a week or two.
I'll be posting weekly updates in this thread to let people know that the product is still progressing towards delivery, so that everyone can rest easy that they will be receiving their keyboard.
I understand that things can take longer than expected but it seems that your estimate dates are best case scenarios rather than probable ship dates.
