I was looking at weight of my setup, my monitors are 12.5 pounds, and my laptop is 3 pounds and keyboard is 1 pound, so I'm right at 29 pounds for the dual monitor. It shows rated as lower, so not sure if that's why in their pictures they always show a keyboard with two monitors, BUT they don't show a laptop on the work space area?

The specs for the Winston Dual indicate the weigh limit to be: Total Weight Capacity: 10 - 26lbs (not 29 lbs for this particular model)
You can most certainly place a laptop on the work surface. You may find it easier to raise and lower if you remove it prior to doing so.
