Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the iStick 50w or 30w and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 5/22.
Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 5/14.

Just got my 30w iStick ordered on Wednesday - Paid ~$48 shipped for the 30w iStick, 10m of 27ga kanthal, and a derringer rda. I guess having your number of purchases next to your username really pushes the buys from some people.

I bought my 50w from an authorized dealer for $45 shipped and had it in 2 days. Just do a google search and these can be purchased all day for these prices. Just my 2 cents.... was hoping $30 for a 50w because that would be a good deal.

TLDR: Eleaf claims that the 50w units built after March are fine and that they tested all of the units in their warehouse and they are fine.
It should be noted that the person who posted this didn't show the original email so it is difficult to say for sure if the email is legitimate or if it even actually exists. It is also unknown if Massdrop will get any of the pre-March units.

Just to add to the discussion, I had a firing issue where it would say low power all the time, and i could only fire for about .9 seconds. It also would not indicate charging, but the battery power would raise if left on charger for >1hour. Device was replaced by Beyond Vape (authorized seller FTW) and the new one has been flawless for a few weeks.

here the base price without shipping is more less than $30... not really a discounted item. i agree when they say $30 is the market price.

Regarding the blowing up and overheating,
I purchased my iStick 30W just less than a month ago from a reputable online retailer so I am certain I have an authentic version. Here are my observations:
1) I wanted to test its limit so I built a .4 ohm dual coil (the lowest allowed for this mod) on an RDA. When I cranked it to 30w, running around 3.5V and 9 AMPs (OHM's law), it got very hot very fast and ran for about 3 seconds before it cut itself off and automatically lowered the power down to 15 watts. Not hot to the point where I couldn't hold on to it but warm enough to tell that the battery is being pushed to its limits. My guess is that the built in battery is generic and rated < 10 AMPs, contrary to the popular commercial ones available right now by Sony, Samsung, Efest, LG, etc... Also it seems that there is some internal temperature sensor that will cut off the device and lower the power setting should it overheat.
2) On a different build, I was able to hold down the fire button for 10 seconds before it cuts itself off with the message "10s limit exceeded" or something in that extent. Another safety feature I presume.
3) I use it with a subtank mini with OCC coils rated for .5 ohms @ 25 watts all day before recharging and it fires like a champ.
Do I leave it overnight to charge? Yes! These safety features have convinced me to do so.
Am I telling you this device is 100% safe? No! I haven't owned it very long yet nor would I ever make that claim. There is always an inherent risk using high powered devices.
It is possible that there is an older batch without these features and I might have the updated version since there are unofficial rumors that the overheating/blowing up issues have been fixed. The eLeaf website does not explicitly list these internal protections in their product page so it may be something they recently implemented to address this issue.
There are also a lot of iStick clones available in the market and some of them may be misrepresented as authentic. Make sure you are buying from a reputable retailer. From my experience with cheap chinese clones, if they are gonna cheap out on anything then it will be the battery.
Happy vaping!!!

L_DiddyThe issue is the 50w not the 30w. A lot of people were impressed with how well put together the 30w was so they bought the 50w figuring it would have the same degree of workmanship and safety devices. They were wrong.
