I would avoid all the Italix products. They are cheap pens and the nibs are not very well reground. They may be low price, but you get what you pay for. I have bought a few, and all are disappointments. You will be happier with a different purchase, even if it costs more, the quality will be worth it.

ipa789I can claim the opposite. All their pens have punched above their weight and I have found that Mr Ford is pretty good at nib grinding.
ipa789Yeah, I'd have to agree with beefjerky-lb and Steno. I have several, two through Massdrop, and I'm very happy with all of them. The pens are decent quality, nothing spectacular, but they don't feel cheap at all. However, what makes Italix fans out of all of us is the remarkable nib work. I only order italics and cursives from Italix and the writing experience with all of them is exquisite.

ipa789I have five pens from this brand and they compete quite nicely in terms of finish with Pilot Vanishing Points, the Pelikan 200/400 series, Watermans, & Franklin Christophs - in other words with pens costing 50 to 150 percent more. The metal body pens are lacquered consistently and smoothly. As far as nibs, these are at least as good as Masuyama grinds from F/C albeit generally larger. Certainly smooth and excellent flow. I like the #6 nibs a bit better for Italix (the Captains Commission, Churchman) than the #5 nibs (Curate, Parsons) and I do wish Mr Pen would be more forthright about telling you what size the nibs are in the product info. But all in all, I think the brand gives one a lot for the price, the specialty grinds generally perform as promised, and fit and finish is as good as most other pens at or even considerably above the price point. That said, the sporadic section unscrewing issues apparently spotted with these particular pens does the brand's image little good... I have not had this issue with any other Italix model.

Rosebud41totally agree with folks who think highly of their Italix. I have an Essential italic medium, smooth writer but a tiny bit dry. Later on, I bought a captain's commission with broad italic cursive stub. That's it. I am 10000000% satisfied with my Commission, as I couldn't imagine a pen that writes smoother yet produces the nice and crisp-enough line variations. The pens are made of metal and are definitely sturdy, to say the least. They may not be beauty pageants in FP worlds but definitely produce joy in writing. I will only buy italic nibbed pens from MrPen.
