The machine washing of polyester garments is responsible for a huge percentage of the toxic microfibers polluting the ocean. Polyester is the worst feeling against naked skin. It won't absorb water. It won't breathe. It is also a cheap fabric. You can find it for $10 in any cheap store.

With the amount of leather I own, that part is not an issue... This conversation went way off the rails... I was just looking for a fiber which provides a bit of warmth without excessive heat built up... Now I have never worn a silk robe so I can't comment on that, but what limited experience I had with silk, it seems to transfer too much of the outside temperature in...
