As an overland adventure motorcycle rider, everything that is carried should have more than one purpose, and I find the option to wear the quilt as a serape is an outstanding benefit. It will not replace a jacket but I always ride with a motorcycle jacket, and I bet hammock campers are going to carry some down vest or jacket anyway. So with this I can use the same thing that kept me warm all night to continue to serve as a warm outer layer to make and enjoy my coffee. Yes, you can use any top quilt to wrap up in. But, the benefit to the head hole is it that it doesn't fall off you like a regular quilt draped over your shoulders and land in the fire or on stove. Brilliant. I have several TQs and UQs to choose from and this ALWAYS goes out on my cool-weather adventures- and yes temperatures are conservative- easy mid 20's in my 30-degree.
