I want to jump on this, but I'm a newbie with this stuff. The idea sounds awesome...
Any recs for a headphone amplifier to go with? What is the recommended headphone impedance?
I am using these headphones: Frequency Response: 5 Hz - 30 kHz Magnet Type: Neodymium Sensitivity: 107 dB/mW Impedance: 24 ohms Power Handling Capacity: 3000 mW

SlowcountryThe ODAC can work with any headphone amplifier. The ODAC outputs line level which is what gets amplified by the headphone amplifier.
Without knowing your actual headphone model (You only provided the specs), I can tell you that the JDS Labs O2 or CMOYBB are both very popular headphone amps that will work well with 24 ohm headphones.

DaaveThanks Dave. The headphones are the SONY MDR-v700. Thinking about upgrading once I see a pair I've "gotta have" on here.

SlowcountryYou may not need a headphone amp. I'm using a DAC like this and the volume control on the computer's OS controls it. I am getting enough volume out to power 250ohm headphones with no amplifier.

SilverheadNot recommended! While it will work, ODAC's fantastic specifications only hold up when connected to an amplifier. Loads below 5k will degrade performance (all headphones).
