"100% selvedge denim" but from where thought? I really like the styling details on these but you can expect people to pay $150 SALE price for jeans and then not tell them where the denim is from. To me it looks like either the Cone orange selvage used by bravestar or the peach id cone used by gustin, neither of which would justify this price. then again it could be some super special denim produced exclusively for them, but again, how would I know, there's no info on it.

Alee.GAnd no sizing chart either? C'mon massdrop you really seem to be dropping the ball recently on providing neccesary and relevant info. "fits true to size" is totally useless info. also the label of "imported" isn't something I like to see on high priced jeans.

Alee.GLooking at listings elsewhere, it looks like Jean Shop does use vanity sizing and they are not in fact "true to size". No chance of me ordering these without a real sizing chart.

Alee.GI don't think this price is worth it, really. I have pairs of RPM West, Brave Star, Wallace & Barnes, Unbranded 21oz., 3x1, and SoSo Bros. selvedge denim and never paid over $100. I know where all the denim came from and how the brands are built, so there are no questions. I'd say hold out and wait until they have a better brand drop, like that Benzak that was recent or the Companion denim that is current.

DryRunGoodsYeah I came to the same conclusion, $150 to wait a long time for some jeans made in a 3rd world country of non-consistently sourced selvedge denim is redicoulous. If I wanted to wait a long time for my jeans I'd just order from gustin, if I where to pay $150 for jeans from them you'd know youd get some truly interesting/unique fabric, not a bunch of bs USA denim marketing when it's not even made here.

Alee.GThere's sizing detail and measurements in the Details section of the main page. Just scroll down and you'll see it in that section. The grading is minimal and they're all very consistent in terms of leg opening, rise, and inseam.
The fabric is custom-made for Jean Shop in Japan, and they're cut-n-sewn in China, and features their iconic orange selvage ID that's not an open-buy fabric that anyone can get their hands on (like the examples you mentioned on your comment).

TomasVBut see that doesn't include waist sizes, true to size can me true to exact inch measurements or it can mean true to how most other brands are fitted, i.e. Vanity sizing. And frankly "custom-made" fabric is a pretty dubious claim that a lot of companies seem to use now to up their price, you can buy uniqlo jeans for $30 that feature "custom fabric from kahair mills" for all I know custom fabric just means the specify that they want an orange ID. Sorry but this drop wreaks of dubious company involvement, and you answering question with clear marketing speak like "features their iconic orange selvedge Id" really doesn't help the case. It's seems like this product is being heavily pushed for profit.

Alee.GFair enough. The discussion about custom fabric is a long and winded one, honestly. Uniqlo indeed does have the buying power to drive prices down on custom selvage fabric working with their Japanese partners.
In the case of Jean Shop, the feel of the fabric, indigo content and finishing on the actual garment is of very good quality. Also, one of my personal favorite things that people overlook the most when looking at value driven brands like some of the ones mentioned in this thread is fit. Pattern making and nailing down a good looking fit is truly a science that a lot of these direct-to-consumer brands tend to overlook quite often and you may end up with nice fabrics in an awful looking lopsided pair.
That being said we'll try adding a more detailed sizing chart to the main page.

DryRunGoodsWallace & Barnes are great. Nice fit and more mainstream looking, not super rough cut hipster.

naterwWhat size are you, I'm thinking of selling mine, if you're interested? Rarely worn. I have to thin out my collection.

holmosapienI have been wearing jean shop jeans since they began making goods off shore as it fit my budget. I can tell you that a waist size 34 measures a 34 and the inseam will measure true to 32.5". The rise and knee bottom ratio is exactly as they state on their measurements. Follow others if you feel you must but opinions are like....well...you know what I mean

kalupasanI'm a little curious about that considering that on their website(the most awful infuriating crappy mobile website I've ever had the displeasure of using I might add) the offer no waste sizing guides just "true to size" followed by a picture of someone measuring a waist the exact WRONG way your supposed to measure, which would give you smaller measurements. Check out Gustins jean measuring chart here:

Now check out jeans shops, "how do you measure jeans":

So do you rely on the sizing of measuring properly or by measuring with the improper technique they show?
