Hi Justin, I'm interested in getting the Magnolias in Burgundy, it's a beautiful shoe, but I'm not sure which size. I just bought a pair of Loake Laxfords on their River last and they are a UK 7.5 F. They're my first real pair of dress shoes. In your opinion should I get the same size in the Magnolias ?

footlooseTheir F width is the standard so pretty sure that correlates to our E width...so uk7.5E should be right

TheShoeSnob@TheShoeSnob Hi Justin. Sorry I am slightly confused, the size options on the drop denote that F correlates with EE instead of E. Could you please clarify?

Josh.KYes our UK F width indicator correlates to a US EE width indicator, which would be our 'wide' fit. Each brand can say their shoes are whatever width value they want. For example Cheaney, Sargent and Church use F as a medium, standard fit where C&J, myself and Cleverley etc use E as our medium, standard fit value. Make sense? To show you another example, Gaziano & Girling use E as their standard fit but they would correlate to our D, narrow width in same size.

TheShoeSnobThanks for clarifying Justin. I'm a 7.5 E in US size, would so would the 6.5 F be too wide for me?

Josh.KIf you are 7.5E in the 65/5 last by Allen Edmonds many have said that as that last runs narrow it actually correlates to our E fit. So yes could be that the F will be too wide. In comparison to most AE dress shoe lasts we are more forgiving in width and instep in our standard width of E

TheShoeSnobUnfortunately I haven't had the pleasure in trying a pair of AEs but this is based on a Brannock device measurement. So do you believe I should get the 6.5 E and hope it stretches or should I get the 7.0 E?

Josh.Ksorry Josh, I really don't believe in the Brannock measurement in it's ability to measure width accurately as width is often more than just a 2D measurement. Girth must be taken into account too which it does not. Please share what shoes you have, or have tried on, brand and size please for me to give you a more intelligent answer. thank you

TheShoeSnobA 7D on Timberlands are a tight fit for me on the toes, but they usually expand over time. I've got a pair of 1000 mile Wolverines in 8D that were a tight fit intially, but the toe box expanded.

Josh.KThis is a tough one for me to be honest as your sizes vary quite a bit. If you have a chance to try Magnanni or To Boot New York our Magnolia should fit to standard oxford models of those two brands.

TheShoeSnobHi Justin, unfortunately being in Australia means we get the short end of the stick in terms of brand choice. Would there be an opportunity to exchange the shoes if they don't fit properly?

Josh.KTry a Crockett and Jones or any other English benchgrade make i.e. Loake or Barker or Cheaney etc, if not the other brands......no exchanges unfortunately.

TheShoeSnobUnfortunately, I won't be able to do that until after the drop ends. I'll take my chances with the 6.5F, I have never not had trouble with average width shoes anyway. Thanks a lot for your input Justin.

Josh.KSounds good Josh but the F is not average width it is wide. The E is the average, medium width

TheShoeSnobI'm a fair bit above average width though, and because of this getting new shoes is an nearly always painful order. So fingers crossed it'll fit properly
