Hello, I was wondering i have an Glass Elec. stove top. Is it compatible? I have bought other ones similar to it but they didn't work well on it.

AbstraxLifeThis will work with a standard electric stove top, but will not work with an induction stove top.

kstokleyIt's steel right? Shouldn't it work if a magnet sticks to it?

daniel12997I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out. Our Hobby buyer had some nanodots and I checked with the sample wok, they stuck on there very well. I had to slide them off the edge of the pan.

AbstraxLifeNo wok will work well on anything that doesn't directly heat the sides (like a gas stove with a large burner). Otherwise only the bottom gets really hot and you might as well use a frying pan.

AbstraxLifeIt would work best with induction if it is actually ferrous carbon steel. Regular electric elements are suboptimal for woks as they do not heat the sides very much, on the other hand this isn't a real wok and the flat bottom compensates somewhat for that issue. Many of the woks available in US stores are aluminium, and work very badly with electric as a result.
^Too much? It'll be fine and the price is reasonable.

AbstraxLifeNot sure if you decided to join on previous drops for this product but wanted to add my comment. Going to date myself and Joyce Chen. I sold this model of wok when I worked for Marshall Fields (now Macy's) back in the late 70s early 80s. Yes it will work with inductive stove tops. I am not a fan of her product line but I do not recall a return from it (and we had a very liberal return policy). However I would say you get what you pay for. Others have mentioned that this is not a true wok shape and are correct, but few kitchens in the west are set up for using true woks optimally.
