In case anyone was wondering:
1) This device works with the Macbook, as it should. The USB Hub and Card Reader are by Genesys Logic. This device does NOT support USB Power Delivery or other fancy stuff ~ it's a straight up USB 3.1 Gen 1 (or USB 3.0) data only device.
2) Power Consumption is probably non-trivial since the hub gets warm even with nothing attached.
3) The hub also works with a Nexus 5X.
4) The USB Type-C connector is pressed instead of drawn, which means it's weaker. (You can tell if a connector is drawn vs stamped by the zig-zag joint on one side ~ drawn connectors do not have a joint and are smooth on both sides).

Yup, fails with the lack of charging. And the lack of an ethernet port. A good chunk of people who need a multi-port adaptor are road warriors who can sometimes find themselves in the position of being unable to trust the wifi and requiring a physical internet connection at airports/hotels. Not an every-day scenario to be sure, but I find myself needing an ethernet connection more often than I plug three devices into my computer...
Juiced has a new one for PreRelease which supports pass through charging. Pass on this one unless you don't need to charge your macbook while using this.
So yeah...looks nice except it dies not charge your MacBook. So supposed you have plugged in all your external devices, HDD etc and your MacBook runs out of juice, then we will just have to unplugged the entire setup so we could use the solitary USB-C port to charged up the computer, then plugged the rest back in again? We don't have enough peripherals that runs on Bluetooth or WiFi to live with a single port, and our external SSD drive won't run at full speed wirelessly.
IMO Apple did indeed made a mis-step with this MacBook. Since they can now miniaturised the logic board and adapt battery to fit the form, I see them upgrading the MacBookAir line instead and call time on this. Was thinking about buying this so I don't have to lug my MBP 15 around but I know I will ended up getting frustrated due to the availability of only one port. How hard is it to get a second USB-C port? and upgrade the FaceTime camera to 1.3MP?
That being said, I might just get this for my OPT :-)
Marc77The 12" MacBook is the new ultralight Macbook, thinner than the Air, and only has one USB-C port. Since the Airs all use USB-A, this wouldn't be compatible.
Find it funny that a product add-on should start such a discussion on the pro's and con's of one product..
i think juiced (if that's the company name) made a solution..i don't own a new Macbook so don't need it.. i bought a macbook pro non retina because i wanted the option to one day add an extra SSD in the dvd drive bay..i have the OWC SSD/HDD bay but still have to get myself a second SSD. ;-)
