Would it be correct to say the only glasses suitable for driving are the Spectron 3CF lenses?

DownThey changed the lens build a few years ago to avoid the weird blinding effect of old polarized lenses. I drive in my spec4s sometimes. The zebra lens is my favorite though, it cuts glare yet can be kept on into twilight

Has anyone attempted to use the Julbo prescription insert with these models? Lists other models as being compatible, yet...hoping for others that might work, too.

Any idea how these would fare as glacier glasses? Or better to wait for a drop on the Explorer frames?

How dark are the Spectron 4 lenses? Are you able to see someones eyes when they are wearing them?

MeeksI've got a pair of dirt2.0 with Zebra lenses (spec 2-4) and have been wearing them around town. I have yet to get them into spec4 light levels. You need snow/water to reflect AND direct sunlight to get past 3. My eyes are visible with my lenses.

Will these be mailed in the box instead of the envelope now that Massdrop has been made aware?

InnerbarkWhile I can't speak for Massdrop's plan for shipping for this item, every package I received from them over a three year period was enclosed in a cardboard box with proper padding, even for non-fragile items like boxers and socks. I also surprised me to read @SantiagoDraco 's comment below.

VirguleTo be fair, sometimes items sold on Massdrop are shipped directly from the vendor to the customers. In those cases the packaging may vary.

Just received my sunglasses, Massdrop, and I have to say "what the hell" were you guys thinking? Who's bright idea was it to ship $100+ sunglasses in a soft sided case, in a paper box, in a damn envelope? I now have a bright shiny new set of bent Julbo sunglasses. I thought Amazon shipping was bad.

SantiagoDracoI should also note that the case shipped is zippered cloth with no support and is NOT the hard case that is pictured with the product.

SantiagoDracoSame here. So disappointing. I was a little lucky mine did not bent. No hard case also.

I own 3 pairs of Julbo sunglasses (2 treks and a bivouac) and love them. Probably the best sunglasses I've ever personally owned. This drop is a pretty great deal and I didn't already have 3 pairs I'd jump on it. Camel lens all the way :D

SantiagoDracoI just bought my first pair - Aero model with Zebra Light lens. I'm interested in getting a pair with the Camel lens. How has your experience been with them? What is your favorite pair between the Trek and Bivouac?

bigbhattI love the Camel lens. So from that perspective my experience has been great. Between the two models I have to say that my favorite is probably the Bivouac but it's a close call. I think the Trek's are a bit more comfortable but I haven't really done a real comparison. The Bivs are more of a daily use pair for me just due to the style being slightly more traditional. If I'm going outdoors/hiking/etc then I bring the Trek.

May I know all this Sunglasses for mountain climbers?

ElenatecYes, these glasses are designed for mountaineering or any other sun exposed environment (salt flats, desert, etc). The lens is dark enough to protect your eyes, and the side shields add further glare resistance. The side shields are removable if you need that extra bit of peripheral vision (like mountain biking or skiing). hope this helps!
