I’m just not understanding these Junghan drops. Go to an authorized dealer. Negotiate. Leave with a watch that is near the same price as the Massdrop price, plus a warranty. I feel like people dont realize that almost all authorized dealers negotiate, and this watch probably never sells for full retail. I bet the always sell for around this price (maybe even less).

I think the main thing is that people see something on MassDrop and they automatically assume that they can get something for an impossibly low price and they‘ll never see a deal like that again so they just jump in without doing any research.
the want is strong with this watch mmmm.
Amazon has it for $20 cheaper and I can get it tomorrow.

Which one? Most of the ones here are -$100, so $1400 instead of $1500
Such a beautiful watch and all of the design options are fantastic. I have a question about the crystal. Is the acrylic treated in any way to protect against scratches? I'm not much of an acrylic fan as they scratch up really easily. Wish Junghans used sapphire on these...

You can't get the domed shape with sapphire. And scratches on acrylic are easy to buff out
aderrrrrk
Of course you can get a domed sapphire. That's patently false. Just look at the Oris Divers 65. It's defined by it's highly domed sapphire crystal.
$1,499? What a steal! I don't already have a device that tells me the time that I carry literally everywhere I go.

Christ, you guys are so far up you own ass. How are you going to admire your $1.5k watch when all you can see is your colon?

Edgy. Enlighten us more o wise one
The hits keep on coming! The watch guys at MD must have made a bet or have a vendetta, cause they've set loose some pretty serious watches these past two weeks, and this Junghans is yet another example.
Well played

Your statement is quite valid Punch, and I too wish that a bit more focus was placed on the watches community as a whole, and trust me, I'd join you in helping if I could. Maybe because the watch community essentially started as a sub group it never really had the chance to gain it's own identity and direction, but it just started growing.
Considering the vendor relationship already established with Armourlite, and that AL will essentially create customized pieces for anyone anyway, I think it was an easy first step into this type of endeavor for MD. Is the Ember a watch guys watch? Probably not, but I do think it covers more bases for the EDC group satisfaction as a whole. I really don't see it as a futile effort, but I see it as a piece that MD hopes will cover a lot of bases, and be something to a lot of people. I truly hope that the Ember leads to that focus I think we'd both like to see in the watches community however, and more thoughtful pieces in the future with different collaborators.
Although I don't follow Micro brands that closely (too many of them), I do know that some of them are doing really kick ass work, and it would likely be mutually beneficial for both parties should that chance arise.
Cheers man
StainlessOnly
Well said, I do follow microbrands enough and know enough about "swiss" made and all that jazz, that watch making hasn't made me disillusioned, but rather seek places where genuine value can be created. And I think that's partially what MD is about, so creating a "MD" collaboration would be awesome and would help if both partners benefit from the relationship.
I want it so bad but cant afford it :(
ares347
Take a look at Junkers, they have a similar style (actually I think they intentionally model them after Junghans) for a lot cheaper. IIRC MD had a Junkers Bauhaus recently.

but is like having an invicta you know it looks like the real thing but is not the real thing
Ugh, I want this watch so bad, but I just could never justify the price and lack of warranty. Maybe one day... (stares off longingly)
Does anyone know if the dome is plastic or mineral crystal?
Capt_N3mo
The Max Bill Chronoscope has a plastic crystal, which looks amazing. It domes all the way to the edge of the case and distorts at extreme angles, just like the in olden days...

Thank you!

Buy this watch from an AD. You can get great deals on Junghans right now. I just picked up a Meister Telemeter in stainless from an AD for $1550 all-in and that's with a stamped warranty card and 2-years of coverage. Going without a warranty on any mechanical chronograph is a somewhat dicey proposition but especially so for the Telemeter, which uses a modular Dubois Depraz setup. I wouldn't want to pay out of pocket if something goes wrong with the movement in the first few months/years of ownership.

who is AD?
pirateknife
AD is an acronym for "authorised dealer".
Gosh this looks good.
Highly suggest buying mid-range and above watches from an authorized dealer rather than MD.
It's a ruse. Overpriced.
Mbot
Actually, this is a good price. The only issue is the lack of warranty. I'd avoid this drop for that reason alone.
No leather band options? yikes...
PrimeCai
I see leather versions
Curious about the warranty as well. No options on the bands either. Not a huge fan of the mesh bracelet. Any chance we can get the grey dial as an option?
I have another appearance question. This watch is really thick (ove r14mm). The style seems strage for such a thickness. I have an Eterna with a 2894, and it seems kind of thick with a more traditional style, so a Bauhaus look with a thick case is kind of strange. I really like the Meister Telemeter (I am also longing for the heritage-looking Longines chrono's), but those old chrono's had slim manual wind movements (oh Longines, please re-make the 30-CH). I wish Valjoux would start making the 72 again.

I believe it is the opposite, watches with bezel wear small.
SkipPp
Skip, I have the Max Bill Chronoscope, it is about 14mm thick, but over 5mm is the plastic crystal alone. It makes the shape of the watch from the side somewhat like that of a disc-shaped UFO, so it slips under a shirt cuff rather easily. It wears pretty thin, in fact. The 7750 is actually managed rather well by Junghans in this particular case. I actually didn't think the watch to be that thick, I had to remeasure to believe it. FWIW.
Is the Meister Telemeter brass? Does it come in steel?
SkipPp
The Meister Telemeter is available in stainless or gold PVD. I just - as in a couple of days ago - picked up the stainless Telemeter from an AD for $1550 with full manufacturer warranty, stamped card, etc. Cheaper than Massdrop. If you like the watch, I'd buy it from an AD. This is especially true since the Telemeter, unlike the Junghans chronos with the vertical subdial arrangement that use the Valjoux, use the Dubois Depraz modular setup, which is apparently tricky to service.
Cheaper on Chronext and you get warranty.
This watch is a style icon! If you are a fan of the Bauhaus school of design, or a fan of clean and efficient German design, this is Your Watch! This uncluttered watch will be my gift to myself for decluttering my house...my life!
A few of the models are cheaper on Amazon unless I'm missing something.

I don't work for Massdrop but I can tell you that this watch does not come with the manufacturer's warranty. Per MD's own words in the "Return Policy" section on this page > https://www.massdrop.com/terms :
"Some products purchased on Massdrop come with a manufacturer's warranty. These products will have the manufacturer warranty listed on the drop page. Products purchased on Massdrop that do not come with a manufacturer's warranty will be subject to a 30-day return policy detailed below."
Should some defect arise on day 31 of your ownership, you have no recourse and a $1500 paperweight.
ANON11
Massdrop is not an authorized dealer and this in fact voids any factory warranty. If the description or overview page doesn't mention a warranty then it doesn't have one. This is direct from massdrop's customer support.
Seems like no warranty is included for a $1500 watch?
