Love the design, but acrylic? On a watch at this price? I've heard a benefit is that scratches are easily buffed out, but I'd still rather have sapphire on a watch I'm spending hundreds on. I'm certainly no expert though, maybe someone else has a different perspective?

MonnoMThis plexiglass vs sapphire has been discussed at nauseam. Sapphire is not expensive. $100 Orient watches even have them. Using Plexiglass is a conscious decision made by the manufacturer in order to properly represent the aesthetics of a domed top as a tribute to the design language of Max Bill, the Bauhaus architect. Sapphire crystal cannot achieve the same domed effect that is needed for this watch. Even their Chronograph automatic of this watch, which is quadruple this price, still has plexiglass.

lassetjusLassetjus: Thank you. I was going to write the same thing, but you said it better. I would add that I've never actually scratched a watch crystal, except on a tool watch that I was wearing while laying bricks. If you''l be laying bricks, you'll want to take this watch off. And that sapphire has disadvantages too. It's not as transparent as glass, and tends to unpleasant reflections, unless expensive anti-reflection coatings are applied. And then there's a color cast. The whole "I've got to have sapphire" meme is a delusion.
