swiftsword69From where are you pulling these prices??? There is no way, on earth, you are finding these mechanical watch movements for that! Those are cheap quartz prices you stated.
Miyota m9132 (1 piece) is around $90.
ETA 2824-2 (1 piece) is around $240.
No volume discount makes up for this. If you can get me 2824-2 for those prices, I will buy them all, and be rich by Christmas.
My point is - your numbers are way off.

shawnstrosityBy all accounts the Miyota 9 series is on par with the ETA 2824. Also, it has a longer power reserve and no issues with handwinding. The only minor niggle for me is the uni-directional winding, which results in a bit of a wobble.

swiftsword69My statement wasn‘t a judgment on the quality of Japanese movements (they’re excellent), more an observation on the price point inflation caused by the inclusion of Swiss movements. In my experience, using a Swiss movement as opposed to a similar, or sometimes even better, Japanese movement will bring the price up significantly.

OnePunchManWrong. He says 2824 OR SELITA. Way too much room for B.S. Selita are not limited, and they are priced comensuritely so.
Find me a link to buy 2824s in bulk, for myself, at $80. I am all over it if you can. You will be my new best friend! Further, even at that price, it still proves my point- no one can get a 2824, sourced new, for $10 like swiftsword69 stated. That was crazy. Not sure what you are trying to prove to me, and not sure what that article is supposed to ruin for me, either. I appreciate all the info I can get- cool by me. Thanks, man.

monjatlethen i would sue the living bejsus out of them. In the end, both ETA and SELITA are swiss. It's not like you are getting a Chinese movement, even though the Chinese replicas have proven to sometimes be even more accurate.
